I have never written a review before but was driven to write one after our stay at Loughbrow House. We were extremely disappointed when we arrived at this B&B and if we had had any where else to stay we would have left on arrival. The house was dirty, shabby, outdated, unkempt and was certainly not what I was expecting... More

Great location for this former grand house. In need of serious investment to bring up to modern standards. I have stayed in hotels, guest houses and B&Bs throughout the world for the last 40 years and this is in the low end of the scale. Cluttered rooms, very musty without basic house keeping. Shared bathrooms with no showers, this is... More

Stayed for one night in the Pink room & didn't quite know what to expect as some reviews were not positive. We have stayed in 5 star luxury hotels throughout the world & if you're expecting that sort of clean, clinical & formulaic establishment you will be disappointed. If you are excited by characters & enjoy unique experiences this is... More

Over-priced, dirty and in desperate need of some maintenance. Having worked in hospitality my entire working life, I know how this industry works. I understand that this is a period property and should be appreciated for its character and history, but it has been seriously neglected over the years. Thick cob webs, paint peeling off, mould, stained pillows (I could... More

I would agree with the comments of SandDancer1956, but for me its not about best and worst, but accepting that this is a house where old things have been retained and that's what makes a stay here such a unique experience and makes Loughbrow House a rare find for those who will appreciate it. It is a beautiful house and... More

Spent one night here and found it fascinating. The house does have faded grandeur but was full of character and fantastic furniture. If you want all mod cons go and stay in a Premier Inn. It was warm and welcoming and it was easy to imagine that nothing much has changed since Victorian times. We did have a shower although... More

For me this place is kind of the best and worst of b and bs. The house is a mix of fabulous drawing room, gorgeous garden, very worn carpets, very small, very old heaters - all of which worked ok for me, but I do see how some people would find the not so good bits unacceptable. The breakfast was... More

Spent one evening here on the booking of my travel agent and was counting the hours until I could leave. The property is old and dated. There is a musty odor throughout the house that was nauseating at times. The room I stayed in did not have an en-suite bathroom; the shared bathroom had a tub only, no shower, and... More

My colleague and I went there to stay for a night. House looked amazing and had impressive drawing room but it could see the faded glamour. The big bathroom which I needed to share with the others were big yet without shower and with lukewarm water. There was a small wall heater to warm a big bathroom and it did... More

We booked at Loughbrow House as it was near to Hexham racecourse. We found a delightful house full of character, quirkiness and unlike anywhere we have stayed before. Lovely period rooms full of interesting and beautiful ornaments, pictures and curios. The bedrooms do not have modern facilties and Holiday Inn it isn't but they are very warm cosy and comfortable.... More
