Not luxurious, but very comfortable, clean, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast plentiful and included service with a smile. Would stay again as I had a great sleep in a very comfortable bed. Wifi a little intermittent and TV broke up a bit, but not a great problem. Convenient for Hexham.

A great place to stay & the food was amazing. Rooms are compact but very nice & a quiet location so got a good nights sleep. It caters for large parties very well as restaurant is good size. Would definitely stay again if passing by.

Friendly staff, great food & lovely area. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area. Oh word of caution phone & book your table as it's very popular. We enjoyed the friendly chats with the staff, nothing was any trouble to them. I have to mention the Chef one word "WOW"... Can't praise the place enough more than happy here.

Stayed for 1 night, the rooms were very clean and bright and the facilities were great. We had dinner in the pub on Saturday night and it was fantastic, great value for money and really delicious. The staff were also very friendly and helpfu. I would highly recommend the Red Lion to anyone staying in and around the area.

The Sunday lunch is to die for and I have never been in such a friend place, not just the pub staff but the other customers and locals were fab, very friendly and welcoming. Would love to go back soon now we have found it.

I stayed here for three nights in June 2014 . the welcome was warm , the food was amazing and the beer well kept . Sue is the perfect host and the setting in a small village just outside Hexham is great for exploring the wider county of Northumberland . If you are looking to experience the hospitality of a... Although I had made an error with the date of our booking and the pub was fully booked when we got there Sue managed to get us a room in a nearby house. Impressed by the fact we had a room we were even more impressed when Sue walked us across the road to our 'new' room and what a... More

Sue and Andy were helpful and friendly hosts. On a very wet day we were welcomed in, and shown where we could park our two touring bikes - this hotel/restaurant/pub is biker friendly. The room was clean and tidy. The pub was cosy and the locals friendly. One had arrived on a horse, which he 'parked' outside the front door!... More

We stayed at The Red Lion on the strength of several reviews which we read on Trip Advisor. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience in the Bar but the most outstanding feature (and we really did not expect this even after reading the reviews) was The Food!! This was excellent and certainly not your average pub food. We both chose the... More

Booked 2 rooms to stay for 3 nights following reading reviews. We weren't disappointed, Sue, Andy and the team were great, made us feel really at home. Rooms were very comfortable and clean.
