After a long and tiring journey, I ended up at the hotel from hell. Shabby, dirty and smelly - I sat in the room and could have cried. I collected my bags and walked out. Note to self - remember to check Trip Advisor in future! more

Unfortunately we didn't read these reviews before staying in this hotel. We arrived at 6pm to get ready for a party in Hexham to be told that there was no hot water as the boiler wasn't working. It later turned out that the boiler hadn't worked the day before either. We were assured there would be water at 8pm but... more

Of all the places we stayed during a three-week tour of England, this was undoubtedly the worst. The bathrooms were not properly cleaned, the beds and furniture were old. The atmosphere was almost creepy. Breakfast was almost inedible (we ended up finding lovely pastries on one of the nearby streets to make up for it). This was once an elegant... more

Dirty sheets that had to be changed when we arrived; inexperienced staff that didn't know what they were doing and a misleading website. Breakfast was DIY in the toaster, and the hotel is only one of four businesses on the premises! Give this place the swerve until they get the hang of the hotel business. more

We arrived at this "hotel" after walking 23 miles of Hadrians Wall and were "greeted" by a group of totally unprofessional staff. The decor was grubby, beds unmade and the service was the poorest I have ever experienced. To cap it all the "breakfast" was 2 slices of bread clingfilmed to a plate and a 1/2 pint of milk. No... more

Where do I start?? Waited in the reception for what seemed like ages! when my hubby booked he gave his credit card details but we were told the credit card machine did not work so would have to pay in cash. This started alarm bells ringing and it went from bad to worse. Got in the room EVENTUALLY, it was... more

A pale shadow of what was once the foremost hotel in Hexham. No other guests in evidence. No lounge, no bar, nowhere to sit. Building appeared to be unheated; small electric heater was provided for the bedroom; but it remained very cold, especially if you were trying to sleep in the bed under the window. No heating at all in... more

What a rubbish hotel, we paid 140 for a two night stay what a rip off, it was dirty and smelly, stains on the bedsheets, and needed a good vacing. There was a cont breakfast included in the price, which was left in the room the night before, including four slices of bread wrapped in clipfilm and left in the... more

Even though my wife and I stayed last year, I thought I would see what other travellers thought. They all reported the same problems as we experienced. We booked 2 nights but could only stay 1 ! We left on the basis that a further nights stay could be a health hazard. I complained to the young girl on reception,... more
