Used Fairshaw Rigg to break a long journey and although only the smallest of their rooms was available it was very clean and comfortably furnished. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, the best of our week away. Talk at breakfast much enlivened by one guests' cat in the night incident. This place only lacks a good... More

Many thanks for your review Alan. We're glad you enjoyed your short stay and hope you will come again - that will give you the chance to sample more off the breakfast menu. It would be nice to have a pub closer but there is an excellent choice of restaurants in Hexham, just 2 1/2 miles down the road. Also... More

This was a really delightful find. The owners are so warm and helpful and went out of their way to make the stay pleasurable. Attractive location, immaculate, great shower, delicious breakfast.... I would love to return and will be telling all my friends that Fairshaw Rigg is 'the' place to stay in the Hexham area.

We're delighted you found us too and really enjoyed hosting you. Glad you loved the "Ecocamel" showers - power showers but use something like 45% less water! We are grateful for your kind review and thanks for spreading the word. More

Lovely rooms, DVDs for kids/adults, exceptional breakfast, and couldn't drag the children away from the trampoline! Even went to the trouble of an Easter egg hunt though we were the only family staying. Lucy F

Thank you both - really glad you had such a good time - we really enjoyed hosting you. Thank you for highlighting so well all that there is to do so close to us. The weather has been slightly different this week to the "heatwave" you experienced but the forecast is better! Hope to see you again soon. Regards Paul... More

My wife and I recently spent a brief stay at this B&B just outside of Hexham, Northumberland. The location is very convenient with lots of things to see and do. The B&B was great with very comfortable rooms and fantastic breakfasts. We also had our evening meal there since it was a Monday and many eateries are closed. The meal... More

Thanks so much Kate. Really pleased we managed to add to your enjoyment of the wedding weekend. Caroline and Mat met the alpacas after you had left so next time you come we'll have to put that on your agenda. Thanks and best wishes Paul and Kathryn More

I can only reiterate the other excellent reviews on this site. My wife and I have stayed twice at the Fairshaw and on both occasions thoroughly enjoyed staying at this superb B&B, particularly at New Year when we stayed with friends. Paul, Kathryn and family could not be more friendly and helpful and I heartilly reccomend their recommendations of local... More

Decided to go up to Hadrian’s Wall as a last minute mid-week'ish walking break towards the end of January and found Fairshaw Rigg on this website. Really pleased with our choice, very comfortable B and B, good location for the wall, good pubs within reasonable driving distance. We thought the service was great, lovely breakfast with fresh eggs from the... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to say so many nice things. Pleased to report the hens are laying plenty of eggs now, after a quiet winter! Lily has settled in really well now and had her first proper walk out in the fields today. Hope you can come back to see us sometime. More

Now I am writing this review on behalf of my partner who stayed 22/1/12 for 3 nights. Paul & Kathryn Shrimpton were extremely helpful and communicated well with both the initial booking enquiry and the subsequent stay. The room was excellent, clean & comfortable. The breakfast offering was a joy. The lunch time pack up which was a chargeable extra... More

One adult and one child stayed Jan 19th for 1 night only. Room - lovely. Makes you want to go home and redecorate. Perhaps on the small-ish size, but then again plenty of room for 2 single beds, 2 sets of drawers, wardrobe and ammentiy tray. Lovely products on the tray by the way. Hairdryer was a proper one, that... More

Teresa - that is incredibly comprehensive and very kind of you to take the time - and say so many nice things! We "sell" the twin room as "cosy" but with its high ceiling, dressing area and roomy bathroom it attracts many favourable comments. Our other rooms, both with Kingsized beds, are a little more spacious but also have the... More
