We stayed two nights at the Reading Rooms for two nights while exploring the Hadrian's Wall area. Our room was quite spacious and modern, very comfortable and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
It is a little misleading to list this B&B as being in Hexham. It's actually in Haydon Bridge, west of there. Since we did not have a car, we had to travel to and from Hexham each day to connect with the Hadrian's Wall AD122 bus which takes you to the Roman sites. The Haydon Bridge train station is very close, but not every train stops there. There is also Arriva Bus scheduled service between Hexham and Haydon Bridge that stops just a block away. If you don't have a car, you wind up studying bus and train schedules a lot. The staff did help out by giving us a ride once but they cannot be expected to always be available to do that. There is a very nice pub across the street.
