We stayed two nights at the Reading Room in July as a base to visit Hadrian's Wall. It was good value based on what we paid but lacked the human touch. Room, bathroom, parking, breakfast were all good quality - and it was certainly quiet in a lovely village setting. Our only issue was the young person who met us... More

We recently stayed at the Reading Rooms to attend the wedding of a friend at the nearby (very beautiful) castle. We were all made to feel very welcome and the owners were very accommodating. The sound of the nearby river was soothing and assisted me in sleeping very comfortably, even though I was sleeping one of the smaller beds. All... More

We booked this B&B in order to attend the wedding of our Godson. The communication from Brian was superb both in advance of the booking and during our stay. We arrived late on a Friday evening, were given excellent instructions on how to find the place and made to feel most welcome. The rooms were perfect for our purposes, clean... More

Stayed one night in the family room (ground floor, sleeps 3) during a recent trip to Hadrian's Wall with our older son. Room spacious, lovely large size shower cubicle (no bath), clean, with on street free parking. Looks out onto the village main street in one direction and over the road towards the river in the other, so no view... More

Just stayed at the Reading Rooms where we found the accommodation clean and well maintained, helpful staff and had a delightful cooked breakfast. Very convenient for walking, sightseeing in Northumberland particularly Hadrian's Wall. Handy local Co-op and charming pubs nearby. Also the breathtaking historic Langley Castle hotel and restaurant is nearby. The Reading Rooms is a good example of how... More

We stayed at the Reading Rooms as it was close to Langley Castle where we were attending a wedding, our hosts were very courteous and called to know when to expect us! The rooms were well kitted out and spotlessly clean! Couldn't really fault them. Very helpfully our hosts collected us after the wedding and drove us back to the... More

A friend and I stayed here whilst walking along Hadrian's wall. The B&B was very clean and welcoming. It had a lovely plush carpet which made it feel very homely and the rooms were nicely decorated, fairly neutral but very clean. The owners were friendly but also left you to have your own space once settling in. They let you... More

Stayed for one night while viewing houses in Hexham, had to ring a number when I arrived as nobody lives on site and was met by a young girl who showed me to my room. The room was very basic and upon further inspection turned out to be a bit grubby, stained chairs and marks on the carpet, old shabby... More

We stayed at 'The Reading Rooms' as our friends were getting married at Langley Castle. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning! We had everything we needed and the owner was very helpful and could not do enough for us. Definitely recommend to others!

Brian, our host, has extensive local knowledge and cooks a tasty breakfast too. He had excellent recommendations for restaurants, good conversation and provided an exceptionally comfortable, clean and warm environment. After a day of clambering over Hadrian's Wall or touring the countryside, The Reading Rooms provided a relaxing evening. We highly recommend it. Jean and Jere H.
