our youngest son bought my wife a dining experience for her birthday in December. there were only 3 possible (fairly) local places we could redeem the vouchers. so glad we chose the walnut tree food was first class - as was the service struggling to find any faults - we both had an excellent meal so, thank you to the... We booked our Xmas dinner at the Walnut Tree as we decided that it would be nice not to cook and wash up this year. I have to say that next year we will be cooking and washing up! The staff at The Walnut Tree were great and couldn't do enough for us, but we were seated in The Ellington... More

Usual last Thursday of the month comedy night in the room at the back of the pub. 3 comedians will visit for an approx 2hr set - £8 can get busy so it can be advisable to book in advance. Good range of beers at the bar too.

This small hotel is good value for money, the staff are pleasant and the food in the restaurant very good. As a constructive comment, it could do with a bit less modernisation and little more celebration and embrace of it's history. I would certainly stay there again.

Went here for a mid-week lunch with friends, oh what a find. The food was delicious, 2 of us had the seafood risotto, full of seafood and so tasty, I had the crayfish sandwich which wad literally bursting with crayfish and served with fries and coleslaw. We were them tempted into heavenly puddings. All very reasonably priced and served to... More

I stayed here on business as an alternative to the big chains and I'm glad I made that decision. Just a shame I don't visit that area more often so I could return, but I would definitely recommend it. Very comfortable rooms, good service, friendly staff and nice food. Wifi was a bit ropey but it still worked ok'ish.

Former Station Hotel expanded and modernised now as an Hotel, Gatsro pub and Fine Dining Room and Event centre. As a hotel the facilities are homely and spacious but there can be noise from creaky boards, macerators, trains and live events in the pub. Good base to explore the canals and countryside. Staff superb and very obliging, breakfast very good... More

If you're after a cosy stay for a short break or business trip to the area and don't want the anonymity of massive chains, this is the place. Steeped in history from the time when the village was a major railway junction, it was a welcome break. Great food and friendly service. You'll need a car or bike, though because... More

Visited at a group re-union. My Bedroom was spot on with clean well presented room and a quality shower-room with all the facilities included. The staff are of the best standard, friendly, efficient and helpful beyond the call of duty. We had a delightful dinner of real quality, served by friendly staff. The hotel is opposite a main line rail... More

Having found the hotel we were pleasantly surprised with its location except that it was very near to the high speed railway track. We had however got a rear room which cut out any rail noise but then found we were over the kitchen extractor fan which was not good. Staff very helpful and we changed rooms. Rooms were comfortable... More
