What a dump. Don't attempt to stay at this Hotel!!!! Location is great for the town centre and the staff were very nice. BUT our room stank of cigarette smoke and despite opening the window the smell did not go. It was so noisy, like sleeping on the M25. There was no hairdryer, the wardrobe and floor/carpet looked like it... More

We stayed at the Plough overnight to attend a wedding. After reading the negative comments written on Tripadvisor, we were not looking forward to our stay. However, we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of our en-suite rooms, the rooms were clean and very comfortable, breakfast was good and plentiful, staff helpful. We found the Plough good value for... More

Forget 'Life on Mars', to go back to 1973 you only need to stay at the Plough. Let's start with some positives, if you just want the basics, a one night stay, comfy bed, decent breakfast and a roof over your head, then this is okay. If you want modern day facilities, clean furnishings, a TV from the 21st century... More

From the outside the hotel looks like a nice building but inside it is horrible! It looked as if the decor hadn't changed since the 70's, the entire place stunk of cigarettes and my room was filthy! The bed was old and springy, the carpets thread bare, the linen had really disgusting stains and smelt dirty. The staff were rude... More

I wish I had read the reviews on here before staying for a night. The rooms are dirty, with stained carpets and bed linen. The curtains are so thin they fail to block out any light so the floodlights outside the building woke me up several times and there is so much noise from the bar, people up and down... More

Me and my friend stayed in The Plough for one Night (luckily no more). We paid £60.00 for the night and I feel what we go for our money was awful!!! When we arrived the hotel looked okay. However the room we were given was disgusting!! It stunk of cigarettes and we had requested a non-smoking room. The smell hit... More

One of the worst places I have ever stayed. The rooms are small, cheap and tatty. The staff are unhelpful at best. The food is barely edible. If you have to come to Northampton and this is your only choice, find a way to go home or wait in the train station. It couldn't be worse.

Very very noisy hotel. Party going on with loud music into early hours. No warning and staff didn't care .... "It's Christmas, what can I do". You can do plenty. Warn potential customers. Don't advertise yourself as a hotel / b+b if you can't actually sleep there. Do not stay here.

This is the worse hotel I have stayed in the staff are rude and obnoxious and smoke throughout the building. The rooms are falling apart with lots of mould and mildew on the ceilings and walls. The location is the only thing going for this hotel oh and the cleaners who seem the friendliest people who work there.

The hotel had free inner City parking, I had a very spacious 1st floor room, which was very clean, well decorated and quiet. For a budget hotel I was pleased with the overall package including breakfast
