I enjoyed a couple of days here while visiting relatives. The room was very attractive at first sight and it was lovely to walk into a warm room as it was just starting to get chilly outside. Everything was clean and the bed comfortable. When I booked, it was really helpful to be able to choose your room style from... more

When we arrived at the hotel we did feel a little like we were staying in someone's house (the owners actually appear to live next door) and our room (number 1) looked like the spare room. However, after a couple of hours we felt right at home. The decor is dated and our room was a bit small but we... more

Stayed for a weekend break in York. The family that run the lodge are very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The 'Hearty English Breakfast' certainly filled us up! It is not too far from the centre of York (about 10-15 mins walk). Would stay here again. more

All I can say is what a fantastic romantic place to stay. The rooms where very clean offering all that's needed for a comfy stay. Breakfast was brilliant and set us up for the day. We didn't even have far to walk into town it only took about 10 minutes. There where some great eating places close by. All in... more

We found the four poster lodge very clean, comfortable and it matched the photo and info given on the website. Gary was very welcoming, happy to have a chat and helpful with where to eat and how to get around. The breakfasts were good and the girls serving were polite and cheerful. We enjoyed our stay and would return there. more

Jul 14, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

This is a small hotel with a real 60's feel to it. Flowery wallpaper, patterned carpets, old fashioned ornaments, but that's how it's supposed to be. It's really quaint!! Our room was a little small, not alot of room around the bed, but it was clean and the ensuite was sufficient. All we needed was a base to sleep and... more

I found the Fourposter Lodge to be a professionally run, perfectly acceptable B&B in an ideal location for visiting friends. As others have said it is a little out of town, but it is considerably cheaper than accommodation options in the central zone. Although I would stay there again, there was a few things which annoyed me. 1). The shower... more
