Stayed just one night in a single room at the Grange Lodge. I checked in at 5:00pm so used the ‘self check in’ procedure. Seemed a little strange to check in without anyone to greet you but in actual fact it worked fine and all the information I needed was provided. The B&B was lovely, warm and cosy which on... more

From the outside, this B&B looks the biz; attractive entrance and a friendly welcoming host. The breakfast room is clean but the purple decor is dated. On our booking confirmation, our rooms were described as 'attractive and prettily decorated...' The rooms were clean and presentable in the basics, but pretty and attratcive they were not. Wallpaper peeling, dusty and old.... more

Stayed at the Grange Lodge for the weekend with my extended family for my nieces wedding. The owners were very friendly and hospitable the guest house was spotlessly clean and a fantastic breakfast. Unlike other reviews my mother and myself had a twin room which was very spaciouse light and airy the en suite was huge compaired to some B... more

"Run" by a lady we only saw once but we were charmed regularly by her husband who seemed to do everything related to running the guesthouse. Our room was so small and dated that we dreaded going back of an evening, the "ensuite" was close to half the size of the room and you could not turn around or bend... more

Plus points...very clean, friendly owners, excellent quality breakfast. Location is fine for centre of York. Downside...smallest single room I have ever stayed in. Owners must realise it is ridiculous to expect guests to comfortably stay there. Also once you managed to crawl into bed the mattress was badly sloping to one side. Handbasin in ensuite was so small it was... more

Grange Lodge is in ideal location to visit York. It's about 10 min walk from the old city centre in a quiet side street. Parking in front of the house. Very friendly owners. Our en suite room was nice, but very tiny. There is not room enough to swing a cat. It was the smallest room in my life where... more

My fiance & I stayed here for three nights while visiting York for a birthday getaway. The location was fabulous! A parking permit meant that we could park outside the B&B and it was then only 10 minutes walk into the centre of York. The Grange Lodge is on a quiet street so we weren't disturbed by noisy traffic or... more

unlike most B&Bs, Grange Lodge is a memorable one. Proprietors Sarah and Nick are particularly friendly but not in an overbearing way. They were helpful and knowledgeable and happy to take time to advise or just to chat. Rooms were clean, pleasantly decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful, with a good choice. Including kippers! And Nick's scrambled egg is the... more

we were a party of 3 girls staying for long weekend in august, when we arrived we were greeted by nic the owner - very pleasant gentleman. We were catered for very well, and even ended up with the loft triple room with tilevision and bath jacuzzi on our last night...... rooms small but very clean and stylish. Breakfast was... more
