Stayed here for 4 nights with 2 boys 13 and 10. Used as a base to explore York and ideal for that as can walk into city centre. Accomodation is in an old house with fixtures and fittings slightly dated but more character than a Travelodge ,so it depends on what your preference is! Breakfast much better and friendly ,personal... More

Our family enjoyed two very nice days at the York Priory. The rooms were cozy and clean, and the breakfast was really good. It was an enjoyable walk to the city center - 15 minutes or so - for healthy people (my elderly mother was not up to it, though), or you could follow a wonderful river walk into town,... More

We were booked to stay Sunday evening with my father-in-law as we were going to collect our son from university and all come home together on the Monday. However my son phoned late Saturday afternoon to say he was ill. We jumped in the car and called the hotel en-route to see if they had a room free for Saturday.... More

The Priory is a lovely place to stay and we enjoyed the informality and warm welcome of the hosts. It is a pet-friendly place which might not appeal to everyone, but as we have a dog we are biased. The breakfast was great and the location could not be better as it is only a short walk into town; and... More

We enjoyed our stay. The room was fine and the breakfast excellent but I think it is overpriced when I compare it with other B & Bs we have stayed in. I feel a bit mean saying this as the staff were keen to please and welcoming but we just felt that we had payed too much.

We arrived early, but they were happy to let us check in. The first thing I noticed was a fridge in reception with fresh milk & small flasks for guests to take it to their rooms. I usually buy a pint of milk for my room as I really don't like UHT milk in tea. It's such a small thing... More

Lovely place and friendly people. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order and nothing too much trouble. Some of the decor was a bit tired, but our room was lovely, freshly renovated with everything you could need. Before we arrived we were a bit anxious about the fact it was dog friendly (hadn't noticed at time of booking!) however, it was... More

My daughter & I stayed here incorporating a theatre trip, we found everything clean & comfortable & staff friendly, I would describe The Priory as shabby chic,we didn't have breakfast so cannot pass comment but would quite happily visit again.

Just stayed at The York Priory with a group of friends. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We had three rooms between us and they were all lovely and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. There was a good choice for breakfast. Handy for the walk along the river into the centre but there is also a bus... More
