A lovely warm welcome from George and Maureen. Most comfortable bed ever, and breakfast was sublime. Short bus ride into town (No. 4) to the shops and sights. We will definitely be going back to the Burswood - best Guest House we've ever stayed in! more

We were only able to stay one night but out of the many B&B places we have stayed this must rate as the best. We particularly appreciated the attention to detail with gowns, slippers, fresh milk, a selection of teas, a small fridge a superb shower its all there. We arrived as strangers and felt that we left as friends. more

We stayed for one night in the Holly room and it was just perfect. George and maureen were wonderful hosts. I arrived to a warm welcome from george and was shown to my room. It was clean, warm and comfortable with little touches such as dressing gowns and bottles of water and fresh milk in the mini fridge to go... more

There is literally nothing negative about the Burswood...George and Maureen were the perfect hosts; welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable about where to go in York. The room was immaculate, with personal touches such as the bathrobes and flowers, it was all lovely. The breakfast definitely lived up to the reputation we read about on Trip Advisor, there was so much... more

When a chance to have a weekend away came up, we decided to visit York and check out all of the local landmarks and attractions. Disappointment set in when other hotels and Guest Houses declined to let us stay on the basis that they were only prepared to take bookings for a minimum of 2 nights. Unfortunately we could only... more

Staying in York for the weekend, we selected the burswood after reading trip advisors comments! And we weren't dissapointed, a great welcome from the hosts, George and Maureen, they really make you feel welcome. We stayed in the "Orchid room" on the first floor, an air conditioned room, with an ensuite shower and seperate bath, joy! the room is reasonably... more

Absolutely superb! The room was immaculate, beautifully furnished, with many considerate and luxurious extras. Such as, the pint of milk placed in your room fridge when shown the location of your room, sealed and dated so that you know it's fresh. The elegant touches that decorate and adorn the room, such as the book that tells you the history of... more

Stayed here 18th Sept for 2 nights. Arrived late on the Friday night to a warm welcome from George the owner. First impressions were very good, the guest house is situated on the main road into York city centre, but you cannot hear the busy road when your in your room. We stayed in the Holly room which was lovely,... more

Stayed for just one night over the bank holiday weekend. Appreciated the fact that we could just book for the single night as many places in York had a minimum 2-night stay at the weekend. Rooms were spotless and very comfortable and every last detail had been thought of. Breakfast also delicious and a good choice available. Very welcoming hosts.... more
