Stayed here for 2 nights. Up there with the worst hotels I've been in. Nice and friendly staff. Dull rooms Out of date decor Mouldy bathroom Paper thin walls Comfy bed Limited electric sockets No cups A very weak shower. There is a travelodge on micklegate that looks 100 times better!

Excellent value for money and usual large room. Room temperature was fine. I wished there was a bath but the shower was large. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. About a 30 minute walk to the city centre (though a bit boring) There are also buses outside. The hotel definitely needs refurbishing as it looks very old and tired outside... More

Stopped here a few times, standard travelodge but nice room friendly staff and sizzler restaurant next door, quiz on a Sunday night. Left car in huge car park walked into town takes 25 minutes or there is a bus stop a few hundred yards away.

As you drive up to the hotel, the first impression isn't great. Window frames peeling and rotting and the hotel looking tired. However a refurbishment is underway, carpets were being replaced during our stay. Hopefully this refurbishment extends throughout, especially the shower in room 120.....it trickled!  The hotel is ideally placed, a short bus ride into the city meant the... More

Stayed here for three nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a main road into York but is set back so there is little road noise. The Black Bull pub is attached to the hotel and serves usual pub food with special 'club' nights throughout the week i.e. chicken club, grill club and fish club.... More

Staff are fantastic but rooms are tired, always dust under bed as never hoovered, windows rotten and bathrooms need a good clean and really replacing. They have tried with new linen and artwork but doesn't really help. Location is fantastic and quiet but needs a serious revamp! I must add that the linen and towels are always clean and fresh... Brilliant hotel with in an excellent location, the staff were very nice and easy to get on with. The design and layout of the hotel is very rustic unlike your typical travelodge hotel. It had a great feel to the place I would recommend this hotel to a friend aswell as state don't modernised modernise it!! Just give it a... More

Three of us stayed for 2 nights for £98 which is excellent value for York. Ideal if you don't mind driving for a few minutes into York. Yes it is need of a makeover but there are notices up saying so. Joined on to the Black Bull Pub which is perfect for a lovely breakfast, very reasonably priced, also ideal... More

I stayed at this Travelodge for one night on a business trip. The room was lovely and clean, warm and quiet, the bed extremely comfortable and the staff very helpful. Would recommend this Travelodge (I understand from the Manager that the hotel is about to undergo a refurbishment but the room I had was superb)
