This place saved us from The Steer Inn (see my report about that one) We arrived Saturday morning 17 May 2009 and were meet by very friendly staff who booked us in and placed our luggage in a secured room until our rooms were ready. We came back after a scenic drive around Heartbeat County with the MX5 Spring Rally... more

We have stayed at several Innkeeper's Lodges and they are all just a little bit different. The Black Bull on Hull Road,York had some + points and some - points compared to the others. It is in a prime location on a main route into York, about a mile from Walmgate. It is also the quietest one we've stayed in at night,no noise... more

We had a decent stay for 3 nights at the Black Bull York which we enjoyed, but I feel I must point out a couple of things that we feel have made other innkeepers have been better. The rooms were a decent size , clean and tidy, but we were a bit disappointed with the shower, the water pressure was... more

We recently enjoyed a three night stay for two people for an incredible £99.00 including breakfast. The hotel is very clean and serviced to a high standard. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The pub itself is set on the Hull road just on the outskirts of York. We walked in on one occasion, very... more

The good: As others have said this is a pretty new lodge style hotel located quite close to York. They were running an offer that if you stay 2 nights the 3rd night is free. This meant our 3 night stay was a bargain £99. We had a lovely big room, and the adjoining pub isnt too bad either. Food... more

Fantastic location, on a main bus route, a couple of minutes and you’re in the centre. The lively could easily walk! We experienced none of the problems mentioned in the car park. The room was pretty much as you would expect from a budget chain - clean, tidy, comfortable beds etc. I liked the huge white quilts and the pack... more

I booked this break as a 3 nights for the price of 2, which worked out as £136 for 2 people for 3 nights which was a bargain. The booking included free continental breakfast which you were able to help yourself to a good choice of cereals, toast, bagels, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, fresh fruit juice, coffee and tea. The room... more

We stayed at this hotel from the 14th of March until the 17th March. We decided to stay here due to the location and it was close to our family who we where visiting at the time. We usually come to this hotel for a few drinks at night, but for a wee change decided we wanted to stay here... more

We have just returned from a two night stay here and would certainly book again. We found the service friendly and efficient and the room spacious and comfortable. Heating was easily controlled to one's own preference. Food served in the Black Bull was a good range of Pub Grub well presented good value and speedily served. Remember the complimentary breakfast,... more
