The inn is located right in the city centre, ideal for shops, The Shambles and the Minster and within easy walking distance of the train station. Be warned though - taxis cannot always pick you up or drop you off at the door due to the amount of places which are pedestrianized in the area, so if you have lots... More

Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel, showed to a nice spacious room. Although the décor was very dated and the bathroom was tiny. This pleasant reaction turned to horror when we heard the local band setting up. I was aware that it is also a public house, but the live music did not finish until way after... More

Booked a overnight stay back in June for a staff night out. Arrived and was pleased we were placed in Rooms 1&2. Rooms clean, warm, and had everything needed for a nights stay. Loved the veiw from 1 of the Merry go Round just out of window. Watched the busy xmas shopper too. Loved the tray of breakfast bits. Staff... More

Had lunch here while on a Christmas shopping trip with daughter. I had fish and chips, she had soup and a sandwich. Meals came quickly and were very nice. Service good. The person who came to clear the plates asked if everything was okay. Loos very clean.

We stayed here on November 2014. Good point it's central. Being central it's really noisy. The room hasn't been updated since at least mid-80's. The decor is dated and the bed is in desperate need of a new mattress. I think we would have been more comfortable sleeping on the street. Totally overpriced for a night's stay.

Served quickly and found a seat and soaked up the nice atmosphere. Always visit this pub when we come to York, it's in a good location and always busy. Toilets nice and clean and just a lovely pub really! Keep up the good work, we'll be back.

Very lively place to have a drink especially when there is a live band performing nicely situated in town as well it is also conveniently placed near the stores and west gate market so pop in after your shopping trip on a lunch time

From the outside this pub looks quite interesting. But inside i found it to be very ordinary which was quite disapointing really because its situated in a good spot where other pubs are inkeeping with their outside look inside. The staff were friendly enough, but atmosphere was a bit off, lights were really bright. We had our drink and left... More

We are regular visitors to this Inn but usually don't eat here, However, we decided to and I can recommend it . A lot of the food is home made and having had the steak and ale pie in the past ,can attest to the fact that it is delicious . Yesterday I had the Roast pork lunch, very good... More
