From the outside this pub looks quite interesting. But inside i found it to be very ordinary which was quite disapointing really because its situated in a good spot where other pubs are inkeeping with their outside look inside. The staff were friendly enough, but atmosphere was a bit off, lights were really bright. We had our drink and left... More

We are regular visitors to this Inn but usually don't eat here, However, we decided to and I can recommend it . A lot of the food is home made and having had the steak and ale pie in the past ,can attest to the fact that it is delicious . Yesterday I had the Roast pork lunch, very good... More

There was a breakfast tray of porridge, muffins, cereal bar and juice, lovely. Bed was comfortable. City center location was brilliant, just walked... More

Called in this pub for a drink. Was stood at the bar for at least 10 minutes. It Wasn't particularly busy and I was ignored by one bar staff member who served someone who came in after me. Then the other older man totally ignored me and served a man who had just come into the pub, but called him... More

We stopped for what we expected to be a leisurely lunch however the experience was both good and bad. We selected a table and I sat down to immediately find my thigh and bum all wet and jumped up so asked for a cloth. 'Sorry' the barman said, 'that's where we dry the beer towels and I've just removed them'.... More

We chose the Roman Bath as it states "Home cooked food". We both had the roast beef lunch. It came out in minutes piping hot. It appeared to be warmed up roast beef frozen roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and vegetables? we don't see this as home cooking. We both left a substantial amount and when the bar person collected the... More

Stayed there about 3 nights while in York. Fantastic central location for exploring York, room was fine for price. Some noise from pub downstairs but was quiet by about 11pm. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice added extra - Continental breaky was replenished each day in our room!
