This is not what i would expect for a 2 star hotel never mind 4 star. Room 9 smells musty and damp with window shut. poor lighting. ensuite is attrocious, you have run about to get wet when shower finally gives an inadequate amount of hot water. Main door bangs shut right behind bed head in room 9, either be... more

This Hotel was chosen for a special occasion and we were given the Honeymoon Suite. Firstly I 'E-mailed' the Hotel regarding a bottle of champagne and they never got back to me. Not a good start!! It was a good job I took my own. The standard & cleanliness of the room made me question whether or not it was... more

Went with a group of people, so I had an opportunity to see different rooms. We stayed in Room 2. Nice, 4-poster bed, lovely furniture, large bathroom. Had a bathtub w/a shower attachment, which wasn't attached to the wall, so you had to hold the showerhead in your hand. This made showering a little difficult, especially since there was no... more

Having stayed at the hotel I wonder what constitutes a 4* hotel. The hotel is listed as being full refurbished in 2007. I disagree with this claim. Our room had dirty net curtains, gaps in the floor tiles - where there was no grout, a mattress older than the queen. No tv remote!! This was vital given that the TV... more

Wow.... Holme Lea Manor is so fantastic!! They were having the hall decorated and the whole house looks new and contempory. Room 4 is sooooo lovely it has a roll top bath in the room (how cool is that!!) with a huge LCD TV and a mahogany 4 poster bed. This room has been so well designed, everything just works... more

On arrival a prompt welcome and keys handed over. The hotel had signs up stating the hotel was in the midst of being decorated. Infact we could not go to our room until 3pm this to allow the paint to dry on our door. On entering a large room with recently modernised but tastefull bathroom. The lounge/bedroom could have been... more

We stayed at Holme Lea Manor last weekend for a short break. Our main purpose was to see the sights and visit several museums, but wanted a comfortable hotel to rest our weary legs. We happened to have Daily Telegraph vouchers - offering 25% discount at Holme Lea Manor - so we decided to go for a slightly more expensive... more

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel to celebrate our anniversary and overall we had a lovely stay. The hotel is in a great location around a 10 minute walk from the Minster. We stayed in room 2, which was extremely spacious, lavishly decorated, comfortable and very romantic. However, we had a couple of minor complaints. The bathroom was... more

When we arrived at the hotel, we rang the bell several times but nothing happened. I ended up having to ring the hotel telephone to get the owner to open the door. The room we stayed in was really lovely but the electrics short circuited twice. The first time I had to knock on the owner's door several times before... more

We stayed at HolmeLea Manor in June and found it on the internet. The room was freshly decorated, clean and spacious. Breakfast was more than enough for me and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Conveniently situated for the centre of York. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a convenient, comfortable, value for money hotel more
