It's nice when you get lucky looking for accomodation - a warm and friendly welcome from hosts, a comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. Would definitely use again.

First, just a word about Bed and Breakfasts in general in York- not all of them are gay/lesbian friendly and may deny your staying there. If you are a same sex couple you should check with any B&B to see what they allow before you book or you might find your plans comprimised. I don't know how the Turnberry House... More

Have just returned from a weekend away in York and stayed at Turnberry House. We loved York, a really beautiful city but what made our weekend was our stay at this wonderful B&B. Turnberry House is situated about 20 mins walk from the centre. You can take a lovely stroll along the river, or use the regular bus services that... More

Being impulsive people, we booked this very last-minute, but Lesley, our hostess, did not seem in the least phased, and could not have been more helpful on the phone; a great first impression. We were given the last room left in the house; Room 4 on the ground floor. It was tastefully decorated, and very clean with a comfy bed.... More

Had a 2 night stay at this lovely little B&B and had a wonderful, relaxing break. The room was clean, spacious and well equipped. Excellent breakfast, friendly hosts-what more could you want?! The walk into York along the river only takes 15/20mins and is lovely! (or there,s a bus that takes you there in a few mins that stops opposite... More

This is a great little place: clean, comfortable, with delicious breakfasts! I was visiting the university for a week and this was ideal. It's within walking distance of the Heslington campus of the University of York, and close to several good pubs and restaurants. They have a single room that is very reasonably priced.

An american friend we spoke to recommended the Turnberry House to us so we booked 3 nights there. The room was beautiful, the food was superb and above all mine hosts Roger and Lesley were two of the nicest, friendliest people... More

Came across this superb b and b by chance. What luck!! Roger and Leslie couldn't have made us more welcome on our arrival. Our room was spacious and well decorated. Lovely comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Plenty of tea and coffee and a breakfast cooked freshly to order. As seasoned travelers, through work, we would not hesitate to recommend and... More

Although we only stayed one night at Turnberry House, we had a very good experience. Room 4 was comfortable and spacious and we liked the Laura Ashley decor. My daughter and I visited York for the University Open Day and the guest house is conveniently located to walk both into York itself and to the University - saving parking in... More
