Lovely rooms, friendly staff and very nice breakfast. Couldn't have asked for more. A1 place to stay. We booked it as a weekend away for our anniversary. Close to the city (10 minute walk to the Minster) and perfect for seeing the city.

What a lovely stay with wonderful hosts. The room was clean and comfortable, and good sized. The host was very helpful and welcoming when we arrived, showing us where to park behind the hotel. The location is great, only a few minutes walk to the main part of York and York Minster, which made it a great place for exploring... More

Excellent location and with free parking, a real bonus for York. Stayed a couple of nights in a very pleasant bedroom with good en suite facilities. All the key sights are in easy walkng distance of the guest house and easy to find. Can't comment on the breakfast as we chose not to have it.

A very well run, efficient and friendly B&B. The house is 19th century with grand high ceilings and furnished sympathetically. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Ours was spacious with a four poster bed. The breakfast is very good and light on cooking oil which we appreciated. There is a small garden and a lounge for residents. It is a... More

Located near Bootham Bar and within walking distance of all attractions. Private parking. Comfy and well equipped rooms. Chose 4 poster bed. Might be a little warm in very warm weather although it's located on a quiet street so we just left window open overnight. Free Wifi , lovely breakfast - highly recommend.

We rented the top floor apartment which is a great option for families. The apartment has two bedrooms, living area, and a small kitchen (small fridge and sink, with provided dishes, cups/glasses and cutlery). Lots of room for a family of four and a real value for the money. The hotel is located on a very quiet residential side street.... More

We had a very pleasant stay at the Hazelwood. It is located conveniently to York Minster and lots of restaurants and attractions within a five minute walk. Our room was room 9, which was quite a small room on the first floor (note there is no lift) with a very compact ensuite (toilet on one side and shower the other).... More

Great location -- We walked to Bootham Bar in five minutes, and two minutes more to York Minster. Excellent service at breakfast, as well as check-in and out. Beautiful, pleasantly decorated rooms. We stayed during a rare warm spell during the summer, so our room on the 2nd floor (3rd USA) was pretty warm, even with the fan provided. And... More

Great property, 2 old houses opened up together. Light and airy breakfast room, great breakfast. We had the 2 rooms downstairs, almost like a private suite. Worked well. Location almost perfect, quiet street with no through traffic, still easy walk to the old Medieval Wall and York minster. Parking a little tight but off street so very safe. Ignore the... More

The historic building is beautiful, set in 70 acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside and you and see for miles around. The food was fantastic, absolutely no complaints. The sofa beds however needs updating as they are really not fit for purpose, so if going in a group in a suite, check the age of the sofa bed. Staff were excellent,... More

Thank you for taking the trouble to write your review. The Hazelwood is indeed an historic building being set in a Victorian terrace built in 1863 just 400 yards from York Minster - right in the middle of the ancient city of York. Thank you also for your comments regarding our setting in the Yorkshire countryside but I do think... More
