Very welcoming and accommodating staff. The room was very big in addition to a lovely queens sized bed. Spotlessly clean and very quiet. Great location. Just a short walk from pubs shops and minster. York is great place for a night/ day out for it's pubs shops or just to wonder around an old city

This place has so much going for it. Firstly location. Just off bustling, quirky, Gillygate, Portland Street is an oasis of peace, a quiet cul de sac. They have some parking round the back, we parked there, bit tight, not too bad. You are at the Minster in 5 minutes (and no, the bells don't sound at night!) Next, cleanliness.... More

I stayed for one night prior to a work function. The hotel is situated in a cul de sac a few minutes away from the Minster and is a quiet oasis in a bustling town. A lovely welcome, and despite technically being too early for check in I was able to access my room, which was great. The room and... More

Just returned from a weekend in York staying at the Hazelwood. It's very close to the city centre just about 100-200m outside the city walls so you can walk everywhere. Free parking on site and free wifi. The property is two town houses which have been combined and is towards the end of the dead end street so very quiet.... More

We stayed in The Hazelwood on a recent trip to York. This is a fantastic, small hotel in the middle of town, but on a quiet dead end street. It is extremely close to everything in town. You could walk anywhere faster than taking a taxi. The room, food and staff were all excellent. We will definitely return here on... More

A perfect location, on a quiet side street only a couple of blocks outside the city's wall, with easy walking distance to the Minster and all other major sights around the city core. Was even a short walk to a bus stop to get out to the York Beer Fest at the racetrack. The hotel's staff were excellent: very friendly,... More

Last minute booking. It was quite affordable and included free parking. ( a large SUV type vehicle would find it difficult to make it through the alley) We only had one afternoon / evening to explore York . The location was ideal for easy access . We even had plenty of time in the morning before the 11am checkout. Our... More

This was a great bed and breakfast. Very well located in York, within 10 minutes walk to The Minister and then 5 minutes more to the Shambles, from there another 5 minutes will get you to the York Castle Museum. Really well located with lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. You don't need your car. If you are from Canada/US,... More

We had a one night stay here while on our way from Edinburgh to London. The room was very comfortable. The location is hard to beat. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk to the cathedral. One thing we liked is that it is on a dead end street. So it was very quiet. I would recommend the Hazelwood... More
