This place is truly amazing, and is located right next to the river- which happens to be a short walk into the city centre. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The best part of the trip however has to be food; Italian cuisine cooked by an Italian chef who personally spoke to us... More

Visited the Lighthorseman, in May on a Thurs night, good pub, ideal for walking in to York, few mins on the bank of the river Ouse, nice room, noisy with traffic due to no double glazed windows, at peak times, good hot shower with towels in room, nice to have a drink and game of pool, in a nice friendly... A wonderful place to stay. Only a 5 minute walk to the centre of York. The breakfast was excellent with local sourced ingredients. The Italian restaurant is also excellent. The food was lovely and very competitive prices. We had a lovely short break in a very friendly and well run bed and breakfast.

We stayed four nights in May. Beautiful old building with characteristic rooms. Comfortable bed with good mattress and very clean bathroom. Easy access to York along the river (5 min walk). The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The restaurant served lovely Italian dishes by an excellent Italian chef. We had a very enjoyable stay and recommend the Lighthorseman highly.

Stayed at this venue after wondering if we'd done the right thing by reading previous reviews but no worries - we couldn't fault it. The room, bed and bathroom clean and comfy. The staff very helpful and friendly. The food absolutely fabulous, both breakfast and the 2 evening meals we took there. It had its own free car park and... More

Arrived around midday. Check-in wasn't officially until 4pm but we were allowed to check in and we're taken to our room. Often for breakfast for the morning after. Well worth the money. Set us up for the day. One thing to mention is that it IS a pub and the night we stayed must have been pool tournament night. Could... More
