Diane couldn't have been more helpful and Bowden House is a credit to her. We stayed in room 3 which was plenty big enough with a lovely en-suite shower room. Lots of little touches around the room which just made it more of a great place to stay. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and flexibility to suit... More

If you visit york, this is the place to stay. A lovely run guest house, where there is everything you need for time away. Excellent hosts that give you excellent service, and will make your stay very welcoming and enjoyable. The rooms are lovely, with lots of little extras you wouldn't expect. Stayed here for two nights and honestly there was nothing i could fault. Check in was at two but we arrived a little early and wanted to park our car and have a look about the city pleasantly we were told our room was ready and it would be no problem to check in now and enjoy the rest of... More

Stayed for 1 night on the 26th July 2014. The owners couldn't do enough for you. As we were arriving early they arranged early check in and organised a taxi to the racecourse. We stayed in room 3, which was spacious and comfortable with a lovely little en suite down a small flight of stairs. There was plenty of choice... More

I cannot fault our stay in anyway or any of the communication from the owners. I booked this B&B and was informed it was the last room available, so we were allocated a twin room with a separate but private bathroom. I received a message from the hotel, letting me know about the room I had booked and I was... More

This well run place is within easy walking distance to York centre. The house itself looks old and consequently has the feel of an old fashioned boarding house but the reality is different in as much as the room is equipped with a smart slim TV, a digital clock, and a facility for listening to music (beyond me!) The tea/coffee... More

A friend and I stayed here for a short stay during the recent Tour De France: Grand Depart. Situated a short 5/10min walk from York castle walls this well presented guesthouse is in a great location. Full English along with a selection of fresh fruit, juices and cereal were served in the conservatory for breakfast. We had planned to take... More

Decided to spend a night in the city of York with my partner as a special treat so, as you can imagine, I wanted somewhere that was a bit nicer than your normal run-of-the-mill budget hotel but was also in a great location within the city and this lovely little guest house definitely fitted the bill. It was literally 15... More

Bowen house is one of those properties you could rate six out of five! We arrived an hour after the time we advised, but this was not an issue. We were warmly welcomed and offered fresh milk for our room (which was appreciated), provided with a map and had the route into town (about 10 minute walk away) explained. Upon... More
