Abbeyfields was a great home for our York visit. It's a short walk from the rail station as well as the town center. The hosts, Les and Al, enjoy what they do and make you feel very welcome. Al works behind the scenes, especially in the kitchen. Les is very personable and ready to converse with the guests. She was... More

Jmaggieb I was astounded to read your negative review of Abbeyfields and can only suspect after reading other reviews you have left for others you have nothing better to do but be critical of everything. The time and effort that Al and his wife Les put into their livelihood is second to none, both with their clientele and their cleaning... More

Just home from an amazing stay at Abbeyfields B&B in York where the welcome is as warm as the freshly baked bread every morning! What more could you want from a holiday stay than fabulous hosts who will go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay; a guest house situated close to the beautiful city of York... More

My friend and I occupied two single rooms in Abbeyfields from 7-11 July. The rooms though very small were clean and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of information is provided and good advice on where to go and where to eat. We arrived by train in the early afternoon and were greeted by Al who showed us enthusiastically on a... More

Hi! I'm Al (husband) and my wife is Les. I have absolutely no response to this guest's opinions, but I will comment on her conduct. At breakfast on morning one, this guest was unhappy with the choice of Cranberry/Raspberry juice, Tropicana Orange, or Tropicana Pink Grapefruit. She requested pineapple juice. She therefore bought a carton, made from concentrate, and decided... More

Had a wonderful stay at Abbeyfields. Definitely the best B&B in York I've stayed in. The location is prefect for walking into town and for the train station. Breakfast was amazing and nothing too much trouble for Les and Al. We will be back!

Wonderful - we booked for the distinctly non typical weekend when the Tour De France visited York. There was a premium of a fiver on the room for this special event - I think Al and Les need some lessons in making money, I'd have gladly paid more, all of York was booked to capacity! You can read about the... More

My wife and I spent three nights at Abbeyfields and we agree this was probably the best B & B we have ever stayed in. Les and Al were a delight and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The ambience is lovely, the food excellent and the amenities outstanding. The location is ultra-convenient and Les provided first-rate... More

My wife and I spent 4 nights here in late May. Our room was clean and comfortable; the breakfasts terrific, with many choices; and the location could not be better: It's on an interesting street (with free parking) and it's just a short walk through the museum gardens to the city centre and the minster. Les and Al are outstanding... More

We stayed at Abbeyfields in May for four nights. It was our 2nd stay with Al and Les and we think this B&B is the BEST place to stay in York! The rooms are lovely, clean, and very serene. As everyone notes, the breakfast is beyond compare and is served in a sun-lit dining room where tables are covered in... More

Had an outstanding stay at Abbeyfields! Glad they had affordable single room available, with a great location close to the city center. A short walk across museum gardens and you are at York Minster. The rooms were clean and simple. The breakfast and outstanding hospitality by Les really set the place apart. Fresh, homemade bread each morning. What else do... More
