We regularly visit York and we have stayed in many different B and B's which have been nice. However we can't believe we have missed this place for so long. The welcome was warm and sincere and from then in nothing was too much. The room was beautiful with old beams and very bright and airy. Comfortable and cosy bed... More

Very helpful hosts with tips, local history, lent us a laptop. Best soft scrambled eggs out of 6 UK B&Bs on this trip. Homemade breads and preserves every morning. Easy walking distance to old city wall. Did we say "WOW?"

We really enjoyed our stay at Abbeyfields in July. An easy walk from the train station, close to the town center and one of the nicest breakfasts of our 3 week trip. We stayed in the Lamps room which faces the back yard and open fields. Nice and quiet and roomy enough for 2 average sized adults with a very... More

Abbeyfields is a four-story bed and breakfast located in a residential neighborhood within an easy short walk to the city center by way of a historic gate entrance through the beautiful Museum Gardens. We stayed in the "Roofs" room on the top floor. The room was roomy but bathroom small with inadequate racks for hanging towels and very small glass... More

"over-rated"Ken???? Certainly NOT!! This B and B lived up to all my expectations. I stayed in the attic room named Cocoa and it was delightful. It was spotlessly clean, had a comfortable bed with plump feather pillows and everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. There was a tray with ample sachets of tea and coffee, packets of... More

We have stayed on two occasions and both times we have felt welcome and we have been very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and Les and Al certainly are hands on and very informative about the town. They remembered from one stay to the next that one of us could not eat kiwi and they prepared a separate fruit salad without... More

Ok, I am bucking the tide here, but three stars is the best I can give. To be fair to Abbeyfields I have not stayed anywhere else in York, so I am comparing my experience there to other B&B's I have stayed around the world. I stayed at Abbeyfields last week for two nights with my GF. The B&B is... More

We stayed on the night of Thursday 7 August in "Roofs" the attic room. The room and en-suite were clean and smart and had everything we needed. There is a tree tops view that can be enjoyed (if like us you are of average height) by leaning on the edge of the rooflight openings and gazing out whilst enjoying the... More

Abbeyfields is an immaculately kept, very friendly B&B. Our choice of breakfast was a poached egg and smoked salmon on freshly baked bread, taken in a sunny breakfast room with a view to the front garden. Lighter and vegetarian options were also available. The bedroom was very tidy and well stocked with biscuits, tea, and bottled water, while the bedsheets... More

Abbeyfields was a perfect complement to the delightful city of York. The owners, Les and Al, were welcoming, helpful and anxious to share their love and knowledge of York. The charming B&B was a short walking distance from the train station and into the center of town. My room was clean and comfortable. Waking to the smell of fresh baked... More
