This was by far the priciest of all my B&Bs during my three-week holiday in Britain, but it simply didn't outshine my less expensive accomodations. The room was lovely and clean, but I hope that that's a given anywhere I stay. I found the place rather impersonal. For instance, there were loads of restaurant menus around, but no indication of... more

23 St. Mary's is located conveniently close to the centre of York - only 5 minutes walk from the Minster. From start to finish of my stay I was impressed. After booking online through the Yorkshire Tourist Board site (--) I phoned to check the booking and had my questions answered propmptly and courteously. When I arrived with my work... more

We stayed in 23 St Mary's for 3 nights and had a lovely time in York. The guest house is homely, clean and welcoming. The hosts are friendly and so helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was delicious and very filling, definitely set you up for the day sight seeing and so much choice as well! The rooms had everything you could... more

We stayed at "23 St. Mary's" on our visit to York and found the location excellent. We had a pleasant stroll through the Museum Gardens each day to get to our walking tour of York or to visit York's many marvelous sights. We found "23 St. Mary's" to be very well run, nicely furnished, offering many little extras of mints,... more

This B&B has an excellent location: within walking distance to the city centre and the train station, but in a very quiet area. It is located in a period victorian house, charming, but the stairs are steep and the rooms pretty small. The TV sets have a built-in DVD player and a selection of DVDs is available to the guests.... more

The location of this B & B is very convenient for easy walking access to York and is located at the end of St. Mary's Street, a very quiet street. The home is beautifully decorated, and the breakfast is always hot and made to order. The B & B may not be conducive to families with children or anyone not... more

It was my wifes birthday in May and I decided to take her to York. We found this B&B by accident, whilst surfing the internet. I work in the catering industry and I manage for my sins, an exclusive Lake District Hotel so I know good service and standards, what is acceptable and what is not. I can honestly say... more

My husband and I stayed at 23 St. Mary's in October 2007. It's been more than a year since our trip, and this place stands out in our memories as the best lodging experience we had. The breakfasts were beautifully prepared and presented, and the food was delicious. Good options for light breakfast eaters, vegetarians, fans of the "full English"....... more

I stayed at 23 St. Mary's after reading great reviews from a travel guide book and the tripadvisor. Surely, it lived up to its reputation. The owners were friendly and helpful. Julie made sure that I have everything I needed or questions answered on the day I was checking in. My victorian room and bathroom were very clean and I... more
