Lovely few days in York at the Clifton Bridge, very hospitable, good breakfast, on site parking, 20 minutes stroll along river to city centre, or similar by road with historic buildings. Excellent facilities super value.

After booking 2 months in advance for this room we turned up only to be told we did not have a room available as a hen party had come and took all of the rooms. We had specifically booked this guest house to be close to an event we were attending that night. We were told there was no rooms... More

We stayed 30/7/14 for 2 nights. When we asked the owner if there was somewhere to eat other than in the towm, he straightaway told us about the Door mouse. He called it up on the internet and even phoned to book us a table. He told us to get ready and he would take us there in his own... More

The room was good so was the breakfast but the guy on reception was to customer service as King Herod was to baby sitting. I'm sure you can do better than this. It's also about 20 minutes walk to the city centre

So where do I start with this idyllic gem in the heart of York and its wonderful owner… Myself and two friends arrived after completing day 2 of our London to Edinburgh cycle challenge. Tired, hungry and in need of a wash we just wanted to check in, shower and head out for food… Half an hour passed and after... More

Booked this guest house for myself and two friends. Only had time to read reviews day before our visit and was horrified to read comments. We travelled by train and got a taxi to the guest house. Arrived an hour before check in time and nervously rang the bell for attention in the hope that we could leave our luggage... More

Would NEVER stay here again! Dirty, Smelly, the Landlord came to the door with a cigarette in his mouth and a can of Special Brew in his hand. IT cost me £105 for the weekend, tried to get a refund in the first hour of booking in which he refused to return The food was all frozen from iceland supermarket... More

In my opinion - avoid this simple, very stuffy and bad taste guest house. We arrived and the owner made rude remarks about my Thai girlfriend. He explained that his ex-Thai wife had "nearly bankrupted him" and implied that my girlfriend (an oil industry employee) was of the same ilk; how he hated Bangkok and Thailand, etc. Breakfast was average:... First of all, this is a cheap(ish) hotel that is situated a short 15 minute walk into the City of York (along the river). The walk is beautiful and a lovely way to see York. Secondly, I arrived with no expectations and have read some of the other reviews. I was here for work so just needed somewhere to sleep,... More

On the website it stated check in from 14:00. Well we did, but were told we couldn't get into the room till 16:00. So we said we would head into York and return about 22:00. After walking around the city we were looking forward to a hot drink and watching the 2nd half of Costa Rica V Netherlands. On arriving... More
