We stayed here for a weekend break. The location is good, in a lovely village close to beautiful countryside. The room (number 5) was clean, and the bathroom was ok, but the room itself was very small and dark, with no view. The bed wasn't long enough for my 6ft husband. The breakfast, and waitress service was fine. Unfortunately we... more

We stayed at the George because we remember that we enjoyed our previous stay almost 30 years ago and for the fact that it was close to York. The hotel is small and very quaint. It is rather tired and in need of a facelift but having said that we had nothing to complain about. Our room was spacious with... more

Booked for 5 nights stay. Arrived sunday, given room with smell of cigarettes despite no smoking allowed! Next morning, was transfered to another room - much better. Room was the newer extension at back. Rooms were clean except older carpets, and had no radio. Internet advertised had poor reception and only free for 15 mins. Had to pay if wanted... more

I stayed for two nights in January. My room was at the front over looking the market square. Room was very nice but basic. Bathroom fine. Room was directly above bar so a little noisy until pub closed but understandable so no complaint. Very friendly staff, would stay again. more

Our disappointment lies almost exclusively with the Manager’s lack of charm and failure to give us anything but the most cursory information when we arrived. It was almost funny - but prompted us to get out for a breath of air as soon as we had checked in. The manager sits in an office with his back to the arrivals... more

We stayed 3 nights at The George and would recommend it to anyone. The hotel was spotless and the staff realy friendly. If you are staying to explore the area speak to Sue, whose knowledge of the surrounding area is second to none and will supply you with routes to take in the excellent scenery. The food was superb and... more

My friend and I booked this hotel for a long weekend break. I was a bit anxious that it was only rated as a 2* hotel but I need not have worried, it was great. It is situated on the market square. Easingwold is a quaint little market town and it's very handy for the "park & ride" at Rawcliffe... more

We stayed at the George whilst attending a wedding in August this year. The room was lovely, really spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. As we were just at the top of the stairs from the bar although the room was non-smoking it smelt of smoke from the bar and you could hear the noise from the bar (not a... more

The experience of staying at this hotel is one you want to repeat again and again. We have just visited for the third time. Kay and Michael, the hotel owners, are lovely people, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They took a great deal of interest in our holiday - the places we were intending to visit,... more
