Bruce is just lovely, wonderfully accommodating and unbelievably helpful and has an endless wealth of knowledge to make your stay so enjoyable. We were running quite late on arrival due to car troubles and traffic; when we arrived Bruce was waiting for us and moved his car in order that we were able to park close to the house. The Guest... We arrived a day before new years eve and wow! A five minute walk from the local pub and about 10 minutes from York city center. Bruce was amazingly helpful, pointing out places of interest on a map he had, always willing to stop for a chat, he is a true gent. His breakfasts are very nice as are the... More

A wonderful example of American hospitality in a British setting. Bruce is a West Coast American married to a British woman who runs this guest house with warmth, enthusiasm, attention to detail and and the big hearted, genuine friendliness more commonly associated with the American Mid-West (a generation or two ago ..). Rooms are small but tidy, well equiped (good... More

We had an afternoon at York Races - Wonderful, then the next day site seeing also wonderful as York is such an interesting city. Breakfast was really filling, nicely... More

This was our second stay at Romley House and we can't wait for our next visit. Bruce is a genuinely warm, friendly man who obviously loves York and can tell you anything you need to know about the city and its attractions. The location is perfect with just a 10 minute walk to either the city centre or the racecourse... More

Myself, my brother and my dad decided to spend a weekend in York as it my dad's birthday, after seeing the good reviews I rung through to the Romley and booked over the phone with a friendly and enthusiastic Bruce. We arrived about 9pm on the Friday and were given a very warm welcome, Bruce told us everything we needed... More

I can not believe all the positive reviews!! This place is a joke!! Bruce is unreal.....so over the top. So false!!!! Breakfast was a great let down too. Our room was sooooooo small!! There was 3 of us sharing and it was terrible. The shower room was very very small also. We each paid £30 a night too. No way... More

My two grown daughters and I stayed at The Romley Guest House in York on May 31, 2011. It was a great experience. Bruce made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He is a very gracious and entertaining host and breakfast is a highlight of the stay. I would definitely recommend this B & B for your next... More

The owner of this B&B, Bruce, is a wonderful host. He makes a wonderful breakfast and is always happy to make recommendations and help you enjoy your stay in York. I don't like not have a bathroom in the room, but other than that, it was a wonderful place to stay. You are provided a robe and bathrooms are next... More
