We booked the day before for this hotel and were aware that it was the last room , however considering the price £95 BB we felt quite let down with the actual room , it was over the car park which had a mechanical gate which you could hear opening and shutting and the room itself was adjacent to the... more

Staff were friendly and very helpful, especially as I kept calling ahead of my trip to ask questions, as it was my first trip to York. The restaurant staff were a bit too efficient. I was dining at the same time as a large group of pensioners, and I felt roped in with them, like I was on a conveyor... more

We enjoyed our one night stay at the Queens Hotel earlier this month. We weren't lucky enough to get a river view, but we did get a good price and the hotel's location couldn't have been better, with all attractions within easy walking distance. We had tickets for a show at the Opera House, and just had a short stroll... more

I booked the queens well in advance for the sought after room on the corner, wish we hadnt bothered the noise was riddiculous!you could hear shouting , police cars the ducks on the river bank to name a few all night. It was like staying in a caravan. the only good part was the breakfast which no one should complain... more

Stayed at this Hotel for three day break in April and would never go back, the reception desk staff were very rude and I did think the room was quite dirty. Breakfast was a very poor self service buffet. The other thing is that you are asked to pay your bill when you arrive, so if you are unhappy with... more

The staff were miserable and unhelpful, decor falling off the wall in reception- although the outside was very nice and was next to a lovely river. The room was very small, the carpet was full of hair!! The kettle in the room was sooo dirty I could not even make a cup of tea! At night the hotel was very... more

Me and my husband stayed for 3 nights. We have stayed twice before and always enjoyed it but felt we were treated a bit shabbily this time. We decided not to pay the extra £10 a night for a river view and were put in a ground floor room overlooking a very noisy road. It was a large, dingy bare... more

Travelled on a train break from Glasgow to York and found hotel within 10 mins walk from the station. A nice hotel situated on the banks of the Ouse and adjacent to Ouse bridge leading to city centre within 5 mins walk. A picturesque city with history everywhere from the Minster to the market streets and pubs etc. Spent a... more

We just returned last night - 20th April after a 2 night "Superbreak Holiday", which included the train travel from Glasgow - good value for HB. The breakfast was nothing special but adequate. However the evening meals were excellent, as was the pleasant service. The reception staff were very friendly & looked after our luggage for the day on Monday... more

Sister hotel to the Parsonage at Escrick on the outskirts of York I expected alot. The rooms in fact are furnished with the same materials and items, I would say Queens was a couple of years older. The TV in my room was a poor 14" portable, although my friend had a room which had been upgraded to a large... more
