Positioned in a cul de sac off the A19 The Groves has a great location. Easy off road parking is also a bonus in York.

The welcome was friendly and I was offered help with my suitcase. I was in room 22A at the top of the main staircase.

Some of the rooms on the floor above appeared to be accessed via a spiral staircase which looked strangely out of place.

My single room was very compact (see photos) with a single bed, a couple of chairs a small single wardrobe and a dressing table. 1980's pine was the theme. The ensuite shower room was tiny with a sliding door. There was a plug in fan thankfully, as the room was very warm. There was no view from the window, just the house next door.

Lots of coffee and tea provided (12 coffee portions and about 10 teabags - generous for a single room)
