After previous and very enjoyable visits, I met a couple of friends at Grays Court for food and they and I were bowled over by the fantastic food in the beautiful surroundings of this elegant ancient property. Fantastic service and lovely atmosphere to boot! Highly recommended for weekend trips to York or just to pop in for afternoon tea or... More

Had a lovely stay. Beautiful rooms. Exceptional service , coffee and scones on arrival a nice touch. Lunch was good value and tasty, enjoyed sitting in the library as the pianist played. Breakfast is impressive with lots of options, all in beautiful surroundings.

We love to have lunch at Grays Court as it is such a relaxing spot to get away from the shoppers and tourists in York. Whether sitting out in the beautiful garden or eating indoors, Grays Court is an oasis of calm. Sandwich prices may seem high but the huge platter of beautifully served ingredients with which to "make your... More

Had my wedding here and found it very disappointing, the main course was different to the one at the tasting and the room was very dusty (wrote clean me in the dust) also one of the guests was refused a coffee so had to use an instant from our room. After the complaint they offered us a discount stay for... More

Hello, I have just received your review and must confess I am mystified. We have not hosted any weddings this year, and my events manager personally oversees each and every wedding we do hold. She is meticulous in her attention to detail and she is equally perplexed as to who you are. I don't understand the purpose of this review,... More

I visited Grays Court for the second time today, first time was just for coffee but had lunch today. After perusing the menu, I opted for the rarebit as did my friend, when it arrived it was two slices of cheese on toast with a bit of relish and lettuce I don't know what I expected but for £8 I... I am sorry that you didn't feel that you received value for money when you ate with us earlier this month. You are correct when you say that there are places where you can get a meal for around £8.00 in York as there are a myriad of small cafes and tea rooms . Everything we serve here is prepared... More

Grays Court is that most wonderful of phenomenons, an English Eccentric. It exudes individuality and quirkiness, from the odd typo on the website to the original artwork on the walls. It is not slick. But it has class, in buckets. It is calming and quiet, charming and warm. The building is a wonder in itself, decorated entirely appropriately with a... More

Stayed for one night for my husband's birthday and fell in love with Gray's. We are frequent visitors to York and have stayed in many of it's hotels - but this has to be our new favourite. From the complimentary tea and freshly baked chocolate cookies on arrival, to breakfast in the stunning dinning room in the morning, our stay could... My friends booked afternoon tea as a birthday treat when visiting York, We arrived as booked at 3.00pm on the Sunday - reception was unattended - we were greeted by the dog. After several minutes we rang the bell for assistance, but nothing happened. Eventually we decided to explore and went up stairs only to be met by a member... More

After a lovely morning browsing the delights of York, we were all a little peckish, and not wishing to join the conveyor belt for 'Betty's, we were looking for something a little quieter.I stopped a tour guide for 'York's Ghost Tours' (which look very exciting, and maybe we will look at on our next visit) hoping he would be able...
