My wife and I stayed here for my birthday we had two nights as part off a two week trip round England. From entering the hotel the welcome is what you hope for Toni on reception was so nice and welcoming to us. The hotel is steeped in history and charm and the location can not be bettered for the... We called into Gray's Court for a drink after busy sightseeing day. It has beautiful reception rooms and the bar we sat in lead onto a huge walled garden with a view of the Minster. The girl serving us (so cross I cannot remember her name) overheard me wish my husband happy birthday. Next minute she had opened a bottle... More

We attended my cousin's wedding, the ceremony was delightful and initially we had a fantastic day. After awhile it became apparent that people were being accused of bringing alcohol into the venue. The bride, groom and guests were hassled throughout the day which resulted in people being refused services and the wedding being cut short at 10.30pm. We had attended... More

Dear Stacey, It was a great shame that our couple's day was marred by the behavior of some of their guests who had been invited to attend their wedding. They chose Grays Court as this is a beautiful building and we have a well deserved reputation for delivering excellence. Grays Court is a hotel with a restaurant and bar and... More

Beautiful hotel in centre of York, inside Minster precincts, with own car park. Lovely historic exterior (former Treasurer's House) and interior. Showpiece panelled long gallery fantastic setting for welcome drink. Rooms lovely; some a little small. Highly recommended.

This hotel was a great find. Just stayed for two nights ( wished it was longer) visiting York. The hotel has a long history dating back centuries & this is reflected in the different rooms throughout the building. We had the fairfax room with large bathroom ( roll top bath & walk in shower). Flat screen TV,tea/coffee making facilities. Very... More

What a splendid afternoon tea. Good choice of the usual sandwiches but the desserts were mouth watering. Not the usual cream filled assortment (apart from a very light scone and cream) but mini fruit cake with cheese, tea infused cake and delicious fruit trifles and Eton Mess in a glass. Wonderful and very good value. Very attentive service as well... More

Forget the crowds and basic eateries serving boring food in overcrowded surroundings. Grays Court is close to the Minster and an incredible building, coupled with good service, equally good food and an extremely attractive garden. Treat yourself.

We stayed at Grays Court because of its proximity to our daughter's apartment - WOW what a find! Tucked away within the city wall behind another wall is this beautiful oasis! Well appointed rooms, modern, pvt in-room baths (although I don't like a petit point headboard - I prefer something that can be washed) but hey, it's a 1,000 year... More

My brother and his wife renewed their vows yesterday in the garden of this fabulous hotel in the centre of York. I have lived in York for most of my life and did not know this existed. The staff were amazing, attention to detail was great, they made us all feel as though it was a full blown wedding with... More
