Hidden in plain site, slap bang next to York Minster. As soon as you turn into the court yard you can feel the history of the place. On arrival we entered the hotel and were greeted with a large seating area and a roaring log fire. The staff are friendly, attentive and very welcoming. My wife and I stayed in... More

The hotel is beautiful and in a fabulous location. So close to the Shambles but so quiet. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom lovely with Clarins toiletries lovely soft towels and bathrobes and slippers. The public rooms are all gorgeous. The only thing that let the hotel down was the breakfast. There was not a lot of choice of... More

We arrived at Greys court on Monday afternoon to friendly helpful staff and a warm reception .our suite was the Ailsabie ,a beautiful room with a charming simplicity yet mod cons as usual .two windows ,one facing the courtyard trees and the other with a great view of York minster - superb. We had the most comfortable bed imaginable that... More

We stayed here in January Last year (I know long overdue review!!) And it was FREEZING!! actually it was a blizzard snowstorm the night we arrived. After getting lost for an hour in York center as we didn't have GPS or a map and no one seemed to have ever heard of the hotel! However once we did find it... More

We became aware of Grays Court having read a glowing report in a Saturday supplement in late November and, as our 30th anniversary was approaching decided to treat ourselves to a three night stay to celebrate the event! And we were not disappointed at all, we are literally just back from a delightful stay. It's a beautiful hotel, small, classy... More

From the moment we got there we loved this beautiful hotel. We were offered complimentary scones and a drink on arrival before being shown to the fantastic Cumberland suite. Decor lovely and the ambience was very laid back and sophisticated. The evening meal was really good and well presented. After being looked after by very polite and efficient staff we... More

Young staff were attentive, professional, polite. An absolute pleasure to behold. Evening meal fabulous, after which we retired to the gallery to further relax and enjoy the ambience... ...in an empty gallery suddenly a loud girl called Kendal makes herself comfortable and more audible than needed, and with plenty of swearing embarks on a torrent of complaining and whinging about... What to say, well nothing except I am so sorry this happened. My daughter was clearly intoxicated and that led to her becoming loud and and opinionated. She is 17, and don't they just know everything at that age. I spoke with her as soon as I was alerted to your review, and she is very very sorry. I am... More

From the moment we arrived in the shadows of York Minster & the blue lit garden entrance we knew it would be magical. Grays Court is steeped in history & the corridors and rooms do not disappoint. We were made very welcome at a very quiet time & our room - with its fantastic garden views, was gorgeous. Breakfast was... More

We had a four-night stay here in late Summer and it was ideal for both York and the surrounding countryside. The hotel, tucked away as it is behind the Minster, next to the NT Treasurer's House and the City Walls, is a haven of quiet yet still in a central location. We were welcomed warmly with a small Afternoon Tea... More
