As we were walking in the sunshine, we stumbled upon the Golden Fleece and the sign caught my eye, the most haunted pub in York, I was drawn to this so we decided to sir outside and have a meal. The meal was scrumptious. The staff were friendly, recommend to others and will visit again.

Stumbled across this pub whilst walking the Shambles. We ventured in and loved the cosy old world charm of it. Great selection of ales. Good attentive staff. Well worth a visit......or two.Its close to one of the best haunted ghost tours just across the road. So combine the two and enjoy both in the same locality.

WOW! Came to York for nice getaway, and heard of the golden fleece. When we arrived we worked our way straight to it, and we were surprised. Beautiful old Victorian setting and aesthetics inside. The food, well we were also surprised. It was lovely. Enjoyed all the food, and got good portions for the money, all of if was of... More

My husband and I travelled to York for the first stop of our 12th wedding anniversary. We decided that we would stay here due to its reputation of being Yorkshire most haunted and oldest tavern. On arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly member of staff who led us through to the back bar area where we were checked... More

I booked this pub for two nights for our anniversary unfortunately with it being so busy we had to have a different room each night which turned out ok after all. The first room (The Shambles) with double bed (anniversary) was absolutely fantastic with a great on-suite. Although being at the front of the pub it was a bit weird... More

Had a lovely stay at the golden fleece. Staff were polite and welcoming and the meals are tasty and big of portion! Fantastic ale to go with it too. Breakfast in the morning is very good and the pub has a great atmosphere that you'd expect from a 500 year old pub. Only criticism is possibly having fans available in... More

Called into the Golden Fleece after hearing its reputation as being one of England's most haunted pubs. Was a little bit wary about it being haunted but received a very warm welcome, lovely olde world pub. Would definitely come again, fools looked great! Great atmosphere and great beer x

I visited The Golden Fleece in May, In York with the girls shopping. We popped in here for a quick half, initially when you first walk in it appears a small chocked full pub, (don't be fooled) along the "eerie" hallway leads into a large eating and drinking area, which is also very "atmospheric" and busy, then outside there is... After being an avid fan of "Most Haunted" I really wanted to stay here so I booked the Lady Peckett Room and told my wife everywhere is haunted in York. We found the car park on Stonebow (Q Park) to be the nearest and cheapest. Go past the front of the Golden Fleece off the Picadilly route then turn right... More
