I was a bit fed up seeing the high prices charged by some of the chain hotels so decided to try a B & B.I picked this one out of Tripadvisor. It is about 10minutes walk from the station on the main road into the old city.My room was on the second floor and it was quite quiet.I was not bothered... more

We originally found this place quite by accident when passing through York, when we needed to make an overnight stop. This place was a real find! We were lucky enough to get the last room in the hotel when we arrived. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, really bright and airy! We ended up with... more

I had a room at the top which was a good size and the bathroom was huge. However, the bedroom window faced the busy road so it was a little noisy at night and early in the morning. Double glazing would have helped and really should be installed as the old wooden window is in need of replacement. Breakfast was... more

Not a bad word to say about this hotel. Friendly staff, very clean and in a good location for all the main attractions. 10 minute walk from the train station, York Minster & City Walls etc. Not too expensive either, Would stay here again. more

I stayed at the Ashberry Hotel this weekend with my two sisters for a girlie weekend away in York. We had a fantastic time - which our choice of hotel only added to. The family room we stayed in was great, clean, modern & spacious with a flat screen tv. The owner of the hotel, Kevin, was really friendly -... more

My partner and I and our 6month old daughter recently visited York for the weekend and found the Ashberry Hotel through the internet as it was a last minute trip. We were delighted with the location as it had parking for our car, walking distance to the town centre and walking distance to the race course. The rooms were very... more

Like that famous Yorkshireman Geoffrey Boycott this hotel is nothing flash or flamboyent but nonetheless a solid performer with the odd good stroke. Where the hotel scores highly is location, a pleasant and scenic 10 minute stroll to the centre. Other good points are a parking space is available opposite the hotel free of charge, the host was also very... more
