This is a small and very comfortable hotel run by two young sisters. They are as friendly and helpful as can be. Everything works, and the breakfast is delicious! It lies within the walls of the city and is an excellent base from which to see this beautiful ancient city.

This was the first stay in England outside of London for my wife and me, and the St Denys set the benchmark for any future travel to the UK. The great location was just the beginning. Easy walk through quiet streets to anywhere in York and very close to many good restaurants. Each one we dined at met our expectations... More

So pleased we found this amazing place in such a brilliant location , a five minute walk into the city centre. Weekend away with my friends and we've been thoroughly looked after from our bags being carried into the hotel for us to complimentary teas and coffees on arrival , nothing was too much trouble. Joe was fantastic such a... More

Just returned from a lovely stay at St Denys where the staff cannot do enough for you. I don't really write reviews but felt strongly that i needed to give the owners the credit this deserves. We arrived early and our clothes were hung up for us and we had complimentary tea and coffee while we checked in. The rooms... More

Well positioned close to the river, nice restaurants, just a short walk to the minster, within the city walls. Refurbishment done very well, nice breakfast, and Sophie and Marie very helpful. I recommend you to stay here when in York.

Excellent stay at St. Denys. Sophie and Marie made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The refurbishment has been done to a very high standard and the rooms are modern and clean.10 out of 10.

We've stayed at the St Denys a couple of times before and I was impressed by the improvements in the style and décor since our last visit (not that it was bad before, I hasten to add!). The room was bright and spotlessly clean, with a big, comfortable bed and the refurbished bathroom was lovely. Maria and Sophie were helpful... More

After staying here a few years ago and being disappointed, we thought we would try it again now with It's new owners Maria and Sophie at the helm. We were so glad we did! The hotel is lovely, with bright decor and clean comfortable refurbished rooms. The breakfasts didn't disappoint either! Lots of choice and very tasty. Maria and Sophie... More

Maria and Sophie (the sisters who have recently taken over this accommodation) and their staff members) were so helpful. Before we had landed in England they had already organized some dinner bookings for us, and when we arrived, they were so helpful and friendly making sure that we had everything we needed! The room we had was cute and homely and... More

Stayed four days here, and the service was first class from we arrived and to we left very early the last morning in York. Very nice room with comfortable beds. Exellent breakfast every morning. This hotel is of course our first choice when we visit York again. The sisters have done a great job with this old hotel!
