I stayed at this hotel for a couple of days with my other half as we both love York. After a terrible journey up we had a bit of difficultly finding the hotel, I'm not sure if that was down to our rubbish sat nav or the fact the 1 picture i eventually managed to find of the hotel looked... more

This is a friendly hotel, the staff were very welcoming and informative. Our room, was as described, with four poster bed, was clean and well decorated. All the usual facilities and only 10 minutes walk from the centre of York. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of it, served piping hot and freshly cooked. Would we go back?............... YES more

We stayed at The Cottage for two nights over Easter. It is about a fifteen minute walk to the city walls of York. The staff are very helpful, and the rooms are clean and bright, but the bedding and towels have seen better days, and the hotel is full of old dried flowers all over the place, a haven for... more

found hotel to be more like a hostel than hotel where u are basicly left to fend for yourself during your stay. there is no staff or night porter in hotel after 10pm till 8am which i found quiet unsafe. rooms are too small, with dead flies on window ledge. also no toileteries supplied apart from a old dirty/used bar... more

We have now stayed in this hotel for the past 4 years, during May with a group of 20 children. Nothing is too much bother for Joan and her staff. The food is fantastic and the rooms clean and adequate for our needs. The hotel is a safe environment and in a good location for visiting the city and surrounding... more

The only recommendation I would make about this hotel is that you do not stay here. On arrival you pay for your whole stay up front - probably because they realise that after one night you would want to leave. There was nothing in the way of welcome; all notices posted throughout the hotel were negative and treated guests as... more

Stayed at this lovely hotel with a school party. The staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, breakfast, in particular was very good indeed with lots of choice. Rooms cosy, warm and decorated to a high standard. The hotel is only a short walk from the centre of York. I highly recommend this... more
