We took a break from work and caring, and wanted to go to York for a couple of nights. I found Abbey Guest House on-line, and it ticked all my boxes. The rates were very reasonable and the Winter Discount offer made it possible to stay for three nights on our small budget! On arrival, Monday @ 2pm, Jane welcomed... More

Your visit to York will only be enhanced by staying at the Abbey Guest House. Be prepared to be welcomed by the proprietor, Jane Meller, with a plate full of brownies, including a pot of Yorkshire tea. Once settled, you could spend a day's worth of sightseeing in the Museum Gardens of St. Mary's Abbey and and the surrounding areas... More

Our second visit to the Abbey guest house and it is great to see Jane and Kingsley maintain the exceptionally high standards needed for a sucessful b & b. We decided this time to go to York by train and Jane emailed me to confirm the bridge from the station had been reopened after the poor weather and it took... More

My wife Jan and I enjoyed a delightful stay at The Abbey Guest House in October. Jane greeted us cheerfully upon our unexpectedly early arrival. She suggested we take the 2-hour Voluntary Guide walking tour at 2:15P, which was a winner. And her dinner recommendation was right on. During our stay we enjoyed the gut-busting full English breakfast, prepared thoughtfully... More

Great location being a short walk from the train station and the main streets of York. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Great choices of breakfast, and very very tasty. Really helpful in recommending things to do/visit and places to eat. Would heartily recommend!

Once we found this hotel we were pleased, primarily because it meant we didn't have to drive anymore, and because we had a very nice room on the second floor. The location is good and the restaurants in York are memorable. There is a free walk around historic York with knowledgeable people that you can get into by the Minster.

I stayed here on a business trip and can't speak highly enough. Brilliant room which was clean and comfortable. I was free ted by the owner who gave me and run down on the real ale pubs of York. I took a wander to them and had a great stay. The breakfast was divine. I opted for smoked salmon and... More

Breakfast was delicious and the location couldn't be better. We walked from the train station, which is very close. And the rooms are immaculate. We liked the B&B very much. On the flip side, we didn't use our parking space when staying for four days, and when a friend came to visit and use our parking spot for 2 hours,... More
