My friend and I had planned a weekend stay in York as we're both celebrating our 40th birthdays this year and after seeing the hotel on a number of websites decided to book. Our room and facilities did not reflect anything on its website, there was an odd smell within the hotel, we had the same towels for 3 days,... more

Stayed here for one night over the bank holiday weekend after a last minute booking. Found the hotel easily, overlooks the racecourse and has ample parking. Our room, 17, was at the front of the hotel and was warm, clean and cosy. We had dinner in the Hotel restaurant and found the food to be of excellent quality, reasonably priced... more

I am a single traveller. but this time I was with a family party of 25,I needed a single room, which I thought I had been given as the room I was given, when opened you had to go down 2 stairs to get into it, then up 2 stairs for the toilet Shower/bath, on the small size, cold water... more

Lovely period hotel 15 minutes from city centre. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Hotel retains all period features in main building and is very restful and relaxing. Bedrooms up to a good standard, clean and well serviced. Food very good, limited evening menu but sufficient choice, all fresh vegetables, perfectly cooked. Best breakfast menu I've seen in a long... more

When we initially arrived we were disappointed with the garden bedroom being very small with an equally small en-suite which needed updating. Your could hear voices in the adjoining room. The hotel was full that night with a family party and the next day the receptionist offered us a bedroom in the main hotel. This was much better, much larger,... more

My husband booked this as a surprise for our 25th Wedding Anniversary, ours was a garden room, which was dingy and smelt musty, the shower was dirty and was either scalding hot or freezing cold, the room had a rusty colour carpet that had big black marks all over it, and I dont think the room had been decorated for a... more

Having read the reviews of this hotel after booking I worried I'd made a big mistake choosing this hotel for a weekend away with my fiancee. However as soon as we arrived my worries dissolved, hotel was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful and we were in one of the garden motel style rooms at the back of the hotel.... more

My wife and I stayed here for the weekend, for her birthday. We opted for one of the garden rooms, rather than the main hotel.Unfortunately the walls were paper thin and we were woken early on a morning, and late at night by other guests. The standard of cleanliness in the room left a lot to be desired, cobwebs in the bathroom, and you could write your... more
