Stayed here two nights on a visit to York. Chose hotel for location and price. We travelled by rail and station is only 10 minutes walk. Town Centre also about 10 minutes walk. Entrance and exterior to the hotel lead one to believe that this an upmarket funky boutique type hangout. However, as one enters the corridors, carpets and walls are decidedly grubby, like they forgot to decorate. Erghh...keep your hands in your pockets at this point would be a good idea. This is a very adequate hotel for a short stay in York. The rooms were very clean - serviced each day - new towels, etc. (the bed was extremely comfortable) - with great hot shower. Stayed here for 3 nights end of September. Can't complain about anything, it was a pleasant stay. The price was reasonable enough especially for York. I found the location one of its best assets - just a short walk from train station. I think it has the best checkin /checkout times which give even more value for money - checkin... more

York is generally a terrible city for hotels - poor quality, complacent and overpriced, with uncaring staff - but the Ibis is a real exception to the rue. We booked ahead and paid £91 for two nights for two - an absolute bargain. It's an easy five minute walk from the station. You very much get what you pay for... more
