My wife and I stayed here 8 years ago and had a wonderful time. His time was not the same. The windows let in a huge draught ( a portable heater was brought to the room )The TV was faulty. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls. The rooms here are not modern as it is an old country manor... More

This is a gorgeous property that instantly transports you to a bygone, historic age. We loved the public rooms: the sitting room where you can have (reasonably priced) tea, the library, as well as the gardens and grounds. However, this is a National Trust property and Grade II listed building, so you must be prepared to negotiate some inconveniences during... More

We visited Middlethorpe Hall for afternoon tea. Wonderful. We were greeted in a helpful and friendly manner and shown to a delightful sitting room where we were served with a really excellent afternoon tea. The service was of a very high standard. It has convinced us to invite friends to join us for a longer stay. Well worth a visit.

Had a standard room for 2 nights away from the main building. On our second night a helicopter landed in the gardens, surrounded by Police cars. Princess Anne emerged from the helicopter and stayed the night in the main building. Our claim to fame is we have slept in the Hall the same night as Princess Anne. Apart from that... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Middlethorpe hall & spa for 2 nights. The hotel is situated 10-15 minutes away from the town centre, which is easily access by bus or car. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone as they are very accommodating, we were welcomed by the porter (grant) who was extremely welcoming and helpful. Grant carried our... More

Excellent room (we were upgraded from the annexe) with four-poster bed. Delicious evening meal, but ... I really don't think that breakfast came up to scratch. Fried eggs seem to have been kept warm, toast was not freshly toasted and the grilled tomato seemed to be a bit dried out. Maybe I'm being over-critical because all the other aspects of... More

I spent four days at Middlethorpe Hall last Spring and very much enjoyed my time at this lovely historic property. I stayed in the one single room in the main house, which was cozy, but not too small at all, with a very comfortable bed, armchair and desk, plenty of storage, a spacious bathroom, and a very pretty view. The... More

We were there last night for my Cousins Patricia's celebratory dinner party for her and husband Ian's Wedding Anniversary. I could not fault it. The food was fine dining at it's best. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. The private room was warm and friendly with it's walls full of old prints and the lounge area where we had... More

Summary: a landmark building, with real luxury, but falls short of 5 stars due to simple errors, like noise. Room: we were escorted to our room by a lovely local Bell Boy. Our room was situated in an outside annex, presumably an old stable house, converted into a 2-storey Accommodation block. The room itself was very sweet and kitsch (see... More
