Wow , stayed here one night at a friends wedding. Huge place felt so fancy and grand, we enjoyed the room. The staff are all around ready to get anything you ask for we felt like we were famous. The food was fabtastic, breakfast was amazing and we all met for drinks to wave off the bride and groom. Perfect... More

This is not the hotel for you if you want to sit outside and listen to the sound of the countryside. The A64 runs along the bottom of the garden and is very intrusive. The bedrooms are comfortable, (if a bit warm - no a/c or fan) but did lack tea and coffee making facilities ... although we did find... More

Stayed here for my wifes birthday in June and have to say I was very impressed. The house and grounds are superb and the staff cannot do enough for you. We had a courtyard room which was not the biggest room in the world but was ample and spotlessly clean. The meal we had in the restaurant was lovely, lobster... More

Stayed here for a night in July after getting married in York city centre. It wasn't cheap but the great room, breakfast & staff made it worth it. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely stay again for a special occasion.

This is somewhere very special: a National Trust property operating as a friendly, professional and very comfortable hotel. We stayed two nights and will happily return. Our room was on the front of the building and was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent. We had dinner in the restaurant on both evenings: the standard was very good and the service impeccable.... We spent one night at Middlethorpe Hall and I wish I have spent more time here.... Everything was perfect, from the lovely and highly professional staff, the very cosy room (we had a standard room....but what a standard!), excellent breakfast, the building itself and (last but not least) the garden and park. This is affordable luxury, but not the sophisticated... More

Stayed at the Middlethorpe with my partner for a night away from home. York hotels appear expensive so we decided to stay in one that looks worth the price you pay. It's not cheap but from the minute we stepped out of the taxi, the whole experience was lovely. We had (an expensive!) drink in the drawing room on arrival... More

This is the ultimate place to stay while visiting York!! Wonderful fine dining, great service and atmosphere. The hotel itself is historic, comfortable, and very gracious. The gardens and grounds are beautiful. A high point of our trip.

Booked as a large group for a retirement party and we're given exclusive use of the drawing room for tea - it was fantastic. Great value at £18pp and more than we could eat. Unlimited tea and sandwiches and excellent silver service. I'd recommend to anyone! Great value and a beautiful setting. Also free parking which is rare in York!!
