Middlethorpe is just wonderful if you want to indulge yourselves. The restaurant is exceptional, and the general service levels are just what you would expect in a 5 star hotel (which is, sadly, rarely the case in the UK's over-priced and under-serviced hotel industry). If you are reading this, you've no doubt been skimming other reviews as well, so there... more

The room we had was smallish but very comfortable. Located in the former stable block it overlooked part of the magnificent gardens. The main building is rather fine so, apart from the proximity to the bypass, the environment is excellent. What really makes this hotel special is the quality of the staff and the food. My wife is a Coeliac... more

My husband and I stayed at the Middlethorpe Hall & Spa June 18th for two nights, we arrived early that day so we checked in and our room was not ready yet, which was to be expected, they offered to take our bags and put them in our room for us, so we could spend the afternoon in the charming... more

We've just returned from celebrating our wedding anniversary here. We booked after reading trip advisor reviews and were not disapointed. On arrival we found that we had been upgraded from a courtyard deluxe room to a cottage suite which was a lovely surprise. Unlike other five star hotels we have stayed in we found that the requests we had made... more

We stayed a night here for our anniversay and had a special rate which inculded full breakfast and evening meal and a courtyard room. On arrival staff helpful and nice to have porter to carry suitcase. The courtyard room was not very spacious, very little room either side of bed. Decor elegant and very clean. I would have enjoyed having... more

We stayed for two nights in a courtyard room which was comfortable and cosy, the decor a little chintzy but fine.. It was fairly noisy as there were rooms above us; we could hear the occupants several times at night and early in the morning walking about. There's also a lot of doors opening and closing with a crash when... more

My boyfriend & I have just returned from a weekend break at Middlethorpe Hall & Spa. We went there as a special treat for my birthday, and I have to say I was not disappointed. When we arrived we thought we were booked into the Courtyard, however where told that we had been upgraded to the main house, which is... more

May 19, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I have just returned from a most enjoyable 2-night break with a friend. We stayed at a special-offer rate of £99 per person, inc. DB&B. which proved remarkably good value. We were accomodated in the courtyard building and I must agree with previous reviewers that the chintzy decor does look a little dated and tired around the edges. However, the... more

Outstanding Hotel and Spa. Staff very freindly. Rooms in courtyard were fresh new and clean, and furnished to a high degree. Dinner was excellent. A top of the range hotel. Grounds impressive and a fantastic experience. Dress appropriately for dinner! more
