The hotel is central which is great as you needn't drive anywhere and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The room was functional, clean and comfortable but nothing special. The pool is smaller than the hotel's website shows and when we visited (half term) was quite busy. The bar is good and sells tasty 'nibbles' (potato skins, nachos etc.)... more

The rooms here are typical of any chain hotel, with a good location and facilities, but what set this hotel apart for us was the quality of the staff. We spent one night here with some friends and our baby daughter. The staff here are superbly trained. There was a query with our booking and Anastasia on reception sorted this... more

Just visited hotel novotel with two children - Hotel situated in good location to Jorvik, Castle, and York museum. The reception area is friendly for families with children Wii and small activity area for younger children. The pool is small, and also deep no paddling area for tinies, no showers. The rooms are ok - could do with updating and... more

Just returned from a weekend break at the Novotel with my wife and we found the place very nice indeed. Our room was lovely and clean and the bathroom was also very clean with a powerfull shower and a seperate bath. The room had every thing that you need in a hotel room tea/coffee, tv/internet, safe, iron. The pool although... more

We stayed in the Novotel for three nights over the mid term break. The hotel seemed full of families and thus had a pretty good vibe. The outdoor play area, indoor heated pool, Wii and toys seemed to be a hit with all the kids, with my son especially enjoying the pool. Our room was made up into a double... more

This is an average hotel, about the quality and ambience of a Holiday Inn. We were on the 4th floor, and while the sink area had been redone, the bathtub and shower looked dated, and the bathtub had a high wall that made getting in and out a challenge for all but the most athletic. The location is about a... more

Booked this through Superbreaks. Got room for £85 per night stayed 3 nights only paid for 2. Breakfast included. Room rate advertised at hotel was £169 per standard room. Standard room, big comfy bed, large sofa bed as well. Looked as though the bathroom had recently been upgraded & they were refurbishing rooms on the 3rd floor, but no disruption... more

Our party of four (2 adults & 2 children aged 10 & 14) stayed at the Novotel York for a couple of nights prior to Xmas and found the overall experience quite good. We really had no complaints, our travel agent had not bothered to tell the hotel we were travelling as a family and originally we were slated for... more

I stayed with my family for two nights while visiting my son at the university. I book the City Break plan which was cheaper than most B&B in the area. The room had an excellent view to the river Ouse and it was very quiet. As you may expect for this type of hotel the room was clean, spacious and... more

Just stayed a couple of nights in the Novotel, the hotel is in a good location just outside the city centre only a 10 min stroll to the shops and attractions. It costs £5 for 24 hours car parking which is payable on leaving. The receptionist was not at all welcoming, "Hello", "please fill this in " as she handed... more
