Absolutely cracking traditional pub just outside the city walls, superb beer, lovely rooms (especially the larger ones), proper breakfasts, friendly landlord and staff, free secure parking - why pay silly York hotel prices?

Easy to walk into the city, or bus stops right outside. Owners very friendly. Since they no longer provide evening meals they will provide crockery & cutlery if one wishes to bring back a takeaway.

Good location for visiting all the major attractions in York. The local bus stop is directly outside the pub. Approx 10 minutes walk to York Minster. I had the full English breakfast which was enough for the day. Room was clean and warm. I would recommend it to a friend.

Second time I have stayed at this property and I would stay again. Staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean. Listed in this years GBG they have a good selection of real ales on and in top condition. Free secure parking for anyone who arrives by car.
