I'm trying to bear in mind that I stayed in a hostel, not a hotel; so here goes :- The wait to check in was outrageous. 16 blokes, 3 rooms, no queue, and yet still 40-odd minutes...? The rooms themselves were ok. Showers/bathrooms fine, although our windows didn't shut for some reason which meant the room was mega noisy at... More

Visited this establishment for 2 night stay, group of 12 lads, got what we paid for, staff were helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable, the building over 300 years old but very modern on the inside. Just remember if you reading reviews to book, this place is a hostel. not a hotel

When we arrived, I could not believe how long it took to check in, ok they were a few people in the queue, but absolutely no excuse for 30 minute wait, what can possibly take so long? There was a big group of us and we were split over a number of rooms, they were not consistent at all; some... More

Where to start? Maybe the positives - beautiful old building, awesome location, staff are generally nice and try to be helpful, dorms spacious and beds comfortable, and extra toilets in addition to dorm ensuite. But that's where it ends... We got there and were told that they made a mistake and we would have to change rooms after the first... More

Stayed for a night. The hostel is beautiful. Apart from that, the 10 beds dorm was spacious. Ensuite toilet is very small and has very bad ventilation. Cleanliness can be improved. Breakfast buffet offered has a large variety, not too bad.

Stayed here with a group of kids on a residential visit. The place is like a circus. On arrival we were given the wrong rooms, the finer details of the booking that had been confirmed the week before had been either ignored or forgotten about (ie allergies, diet requirements, meal times). Management argued with staff in front of guests, they... More

Stayed with a course group while visiting York for the day. All of the guys were put into the basement with the positive that we had an en-suite bathroom. The Ace York is located in an old building and as such has a number of common areas that are great to spread out in. But, beyond location there wasn't much... More

A group of eight of us stayed here for two nights and had a grand time! We filled an eight bed dorm ourselves which had its own ensuite shower and toilet. Fresh linen was provided and the beds were quite comfy. We were at the front of the hostel so had no issues with noise from bars/clubs only a bit... More

Ace York is located right in the heart of the picturesque city of York in England. It is just a 5 minute walk from the York railway station, very near to the Micklegate. It is a magnificent Georgian building with both dorms and privates. Breakfast is included in the charges and is of a very good quality. All major attractions... More

We went to York for a hen weekend and decided on Ace as it looked nice and was very reasonably priced. It's location is perfect for exploring the city and for those who want to go out at night. If you're on the back of the hotel you can hear a nearby club/bar so take earplugs if you want a... More
