It's always a pleasure to stay with Ian and Julie at the Old Vic Guest House in York. The welcome is warm and friendly and the rooms are comfortable and clean, and well stocked with tea/coffee etc. The building is well situated for a gentle 15 - 20 minute leisurely stroll into the City centre, take the walk along the... What a beautiful guest house so very well kept. Spotlessly clean. What a wonderful breakfast so very filling. We were made to feel very welcome. Plenty buses around the corner to town centre. Coming back late in the evening taxi under £5. Definitely stay again when we return. Don't forget to bring a treat for Leo (the dog). Check out the... More

The room we stayed in was immaculate and extremely warm and cosy although we stayed in February. A short walk to the centre with pubs nearby. The hosts were very accommodating and very friendly at all times. The best bit I'd say was the breakfast, well cooked, lots of choice and I had so much I didn't need to eat... More

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Lovely clean rooms that are nicely themed showing a little TLC. Looks and feels like it's run with a personal touch . Would recommend for anybody visiting York city as only a 15 min walk to centre.

Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. Exactly what we wanted, room was comfortable, breakfast was great. Location ideal as it was a short 10 minute walk along the river to the town centre. Will be coming back again.

Only had a one night stay but would happily visit again. Friendly welcome, beautiful building. Clean warm and a fantastic breakfast. It ticked all the boxes and thoroughly deserves the good reviews it already has.

Ian & Julie are a fantastic couple, very welcoming. Leo is a superb asset & will brighten your morning! I've have stayed one week so far & have re-booked again for next week as I'm on a course in York. It's not far from the city center. The rooms are very clean & comfortable with a relaxed atmosphere. The ensuite... More

We had decided to spend a Saturday night in York as a bit of a treat to ourselves and it was purely by chance that we ended up choosing The Old Vic - and what a choice! We couldn't have wished for a warmer welcome; Ian and Julie immediately made us feel at home and genuinely seemed to enjoy having... More

We stayed for four nights at the end of October and we really enjoyed out stay. We stayed in the king size en-suite room which we found very clean, big, very warm and cosy. The staff were very friendly, even Leo, their dog. The B&B was in an excellent location, a 15-20 minute walk into the city. Breakfast was a... More

This is a hidden gem that will not stay hidden for much longer. I stayed at The Old Vic for a total of 14 nights over a perod of a month whilst studying in York. I totally agree with all the positive comments posted by others. I stayed in 4 different rooms and they were all well above standard for... More
