Car park to rear is free and was empty! Location is a 15min walk into York town centre, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spotless and silent considering how busy and loud the pub below was. Bed was a little uncomfortable and smaller to what I'm used to but I'm heavily pregnant so can't really fault it.... There was 13 of us went , the pub B and B was cheap for york centre prices at christmas , and the staff was all ok. The breakfast was only continental, which we think let it down a bit there was an indian restaraunt built on the side. 17 of us had a meal, meals were all quite good except... More

We stayed over the Halloween weekend. The Old Grey Mare was a cheap b&b and fitted the bill. 10 mins easy walk from the minister, small car park on site, friendly helpful staff, cheap beer. Limited continental breakfast, budget rooms , hot showers. I would guess that this is probably used by contract workers normally, the whole place could do... More

If you're looking for luxury then this isn't thwvplace for you. However if you're looking for friendly staff, great service, clean comfy beds and unbelievable value then this is perfect for you!! Location is amazing, only a brisk walk from the Minster and historic beautifulness that is York! I don't usually sleep well in hotels but I found it very... More

First the good bits, The rooms are very keenly priced, clean and pleasant enough given the price. Its an easy 15 min stroll into york itself and also easy access for the station. Now the not so good stuff. First dont use the sink and shower together as the sink causes unpleasant black bits from the drain to invade the... More

I had read that this place was terrible. I read that the locals were unfriendly. Not true. The rooms were a bit tired but as a base for the weekend it was fine. The locals were great and gave good advice as to where to go for football match and at night. 15 minute walk into York. Locals even told... More

I would not stay at this establishment again. Carpets were stained, as were the curtains and bed linen. Breakfast was basic and milk was off! Stay at your own peril! The only plus point was that you could walk into York city centre in about 15 mins, which was fab!

Staying close by we thought we would try this pub. We dined in the restaurant 2 nights in a row and the food was good and the staff absolutely wonderful. We ordered many a drink and even took friends with us on the second night. Alas this can not be said for the pub itself. DO NOT expect a warm... More

My mistake for not reading the reviews. We were in a huge hurry to book a room as it was late in the day. We booked the two room cottage. Stay away! We paid a fair amount of money for this place and .... Yuck! It smelled. Furniture was dated. No hand towels in toilet. In fact no hand towels... More

We stayed at the beginning of July. Very cheap accommodation, only 10/15 walk to town with free parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, choice of fruit, cereals, toast etc. Room was ok size, bathroom dated with cracked sink and curtains didn't meet the window sill, letting a lot of light in. Room was clean and had tea/coffee... More
