Went in here over Christmas, had a lovely meal with a couple of pints. We sat overlooking the harbour which was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly too. Well worth a visit when you are here in whitby. Looked a round at some of the other meals that people had and looked very nice. All in all very good.

Although part of pub ....the rooms are accessed outside. Beautiful view over harbour. Clean and well stocked biscuit and tea/coffee tray. Plenty of places nearby for breakfast. only drawback is that no parking on site - public carp park few hundred yards away.

A really good find - comfortable room at a budget price, with amazing views straight into Whitby harbour. Very quiet, great night's sleep. Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. Shower not the best, but overall would recommend this accommodation.

God so disappointed, it's dirty and needs a new lick of paint , very grubby it really needs the seats re-covering, walls need re painting. Must admit the food still looked amazing. Always came here when we visited Whitby, but so disappointed

Superb place to stay we are treat like family The perfect place for a no fuss break stay in your room until 11 am then upstairs for a fish pie for less than £9 ! the sea view from most of the rooms makes this one of my favourite Yorkshire pubs ! At £65 a room a must stay place

We return repeatedly to the Duke of York when in Whitby. The food is very good and consists of Yorkshire Portions, so be prepared for a hearty meal! Ranging from fresh sandwiches to the highly recommended steak pie, there is something for everyone. Our recent visit just was no different and it is one of our favourite places to eat... More

We stayed in 2 of the rooms at the Duke of York. Both were immaculately clean (excellent cleaner) and it is apparent the owners are decorating and updating fixtures and fittings - good quality bed linen and towels. Good hospitality trays and the rooms are comfortable with double beds and settees. The landlady Laura was lovely and took on board... More

We came to see Whitby in its full glory for the Goth weekend and to see family. The hotel didn't disappoint. The staff were so helpful and friendly and just couldn't do enough for us. Very well kept clean rooms and all round great service. It's certainly great value for money especially for its central location and it's amazing views... More

We have been regular visitors here for the last thirty years for meals, sometimes its has been good other times not so good. This time we visited on a Thursday night and all of us had an excellent meal. From past experience it is good here if you come out of peak season, particularly mid week. We have never stayed... The bedrooms overlooked the harbour and our ground floor rooms opened direct onto the area near the jetty. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The room was well furnished and the bed comfortable. There is no breakfast in the pub but we were recommended a local cafe which served a good hearty breakfast. The pub itself serves good... More
