The owner is pure Arrogant, grumpy and argumentative. The food is not nice and on most days already gone off so we leave it still at the table and on the plate. The milk in the rooms was out of date by 2 months and it says something when it UHT milk. Price of the drinks is compleatly ridicules and... More

Owner was very pleasant, however the hotel was very dated, no television in the rooms, smelt like a residential home, definitely not the place for the younger generation, requires a desperate refurbishment through out, overall very disappointed.

Booked last minute, so little choice. The host is a nice guy, the staff are pleasant and the location is convenient and quiet. The wifi was unexpected, as not advertised, but worked really well, so a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, the place needs money spending on it. The rooms are very basic, with wonky doors, a towel rail hung at a... More

At short notice two days before our visit to sleights I looked for vacancies around the Whitby area only to find there wasn't actually much available,so I gave the hotel a ring and arranged a one night stay for Saturday 12th July. On arrival we were met by the owner who took us to our room and explained about walks... More

Though basic and behind the times, the facilities was adequate. The hotelier could not have been more helpful and the bed and bathroom was spotlessly clean. Very good breakfast with as much as you wanted to eat. Tea and coffee in the room - always welcome.

My cousin and his wife came to visit us in Sleights so we decided to take them to the Salmon Leap Hotel for Sunday Lunch. They were impressed by the friendly welcome and efficient staff. The meal was,as expected delicious, and we couldn't fault all three courses. My cousin complemented Adrian on his Traditional home made Sunday lunch and compared... More

We were visiting relatives and went for Sunday lunch. We had a three course lunch which we were all very happy with. The menu was more limited than some might like but I would rather have less that was all well cooked rather than a big menu full of ping, (microwave) meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. The decor... More

hardly 'dire' as one reviewer puts it. OK, not mega up-to-date (no wifi or TV in rooms - but there is a common room) but personally, I can live with that for one night. Clean, well-maintained, spacious room, communal garden, great bar, excellent location, sufficient parking. We received a friendly welcome.
