Quirky and unusual as befits Whitby,we have now sampled our fourth room in this intimate and cosy seaside hotel. At first it seems a little 'off the wall' filled as it is with the kind of objects you might find in the stately home of an eccentric relative.Start with the swan under glass move on to clowns, pharaoh's head,dolls.... accordian your... We had a nice afternoon tea at La Rosa. We enjoyed looking at all the curiosities there and the charm of the China teacups. The service was attentive which made up for the average cakes. Lovely view over Whitby and the bay. Worth a visit as a one off.

Words fail me really, I can not tell you how much of a wonderful place this is, even tho it rained on the second day, it didn't matter! The hosts were lovely, helpful, and passionate about their unique and charming venture. I loved every minute of it. Absolutely gutted I couldn't stop a 3rd night which was offered to us... More

Visited today the tea room at the hotel. (bank holiday Monday). Have been waiting to visit both the hotel and campsite for awhile. All I can say is fantastic! Loved the decor....so much to look at and so many interesting antiques and things. We had cake, tea and the amazing home made lemonade. Even the dog was looked after with... More

Had a great weekend here it was a interesting hotel with great views over the harbour. Although many not the best if freaked out by taxidermy as literally every room has some in it x have to admit we did literally take over the hotel for the weekend and they put on a fantastic effort to accommodate 30 people for... We stayed in La Rosa over the Goth Festival weekend as part of a group and all but one of the rooms were occupied by our party. I'm sure this gave us a different experience to most people as it felt very much like "our" hotel, but the staff all seemed very tolerant of having us wandering all over the... More

First off the rooms are decorated beautify, however the service is less than fitting for your average boutique hotel. On our second night we did not expect the "hotel bar" to be a local gig venue, which when we arrived back at around 10 for a drink we were advised was full and we should head out again to a... More

Hi there, I felt really sad when I read this, I'm so sorry you felt left out! However, it wasn't a party in the basement, it was a gig and unfortunately was at full capacity. I did keep a couple of tickets for guests incase they fancied coming, but they were sold pretty early on. You would have been more... More

I booked this hotel as an anniversary present to us. I had seen pictures and was taken by its quirkiness and thought it would be a bit different. Different it certainly was. Everywhere you looked was an eclectic mix of knick knacks, pictures and objet d'art. Some were an obvious homage to Lewis Carroll (the stuffed white rabbit!) and others... More

Like a real life version of the inside of my mind, La Rosa is gorgeous; vintage furniture and nick knacks added to a great view over the bay is my idea of heaven. Big claw footed baths and free hand made toiletries make for a romantic haven for a special weekend. We have celebrated our anniversary there a few times... More

We'd just like to say we're so glad you like the hotel, it's lovely to hear that people 'get' us and our intentions! Which is basically to make sure everyone has as much fun as they can while they're staying with us! All the best Sophie Covell More
