My wife and I love the Sandbeck, as we have stayed here several times in the past. We stay here during the Whitby Gothic Weekend around Halloween. The house is in a great location on the West Cliff, facing the water and a very short walk to the Pavilion/Spa. Owners David and Kay are so wonderful and welcoming and will... More

We cannot thank the staff more for getting us in at such short notice on goth weekend. We were attending a friends wedding on the Friday and staying the weekend we had booked to stay in another hotel but on arrival there we found it to be uninhabitable. We ran around trying to find somewhere to stay and found the... More

Stayed here for one night on our trip round York and Scarborough, was greeted and explained about hotels. Etc. our room. Where do I start. My biggest low for me was the bed, both my husband and I have got bad backs this morming, we travel quite a bit and can honestly say was the worst I have ever slept... More

We've been fortunate enough to stay at the Sandbeck twice this year, and have to applaud Kay, David, Laura, Andrea and the rest of the staff for the standard of the decor, cleanliness and the food. But most of all for their absolute commitment to making sure that every guest enjoys their stay. Its not been the easiest year for... More

After a stay at Assam House completely spoiled a visit to the Musicport festival in 2013, this year's stay at The Sandbeck had the complete opposite effect. Despite staying in one of the less expensive rooms, there was everything contained that you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay. The decor and upkeep of the hotel was to a very... More

We had a wonderfully relaxing 4 nights in this guest house. The room number 9 was excellent with sea views. It had everything you could wish for and was spotlessly clean. The service from the owners down to the maids was discrete and excellent. This establishment leaves most hotels in the dark ages. Breakfast is an around the world experience,... More

I visited The Sandbeck 10th October 2014, with my wife, sister and brother in law. What a wonderful surprise it was for me. Thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay, with a hearty breakfast, comfortable, clean, well proportioned room with views of the harbour and abbey. Whitby never lets me down, with the North Yorks Moors and the Yorkshire coast (Robin... More

Found this guest house by chance. Stayed for a long weekend and had a lovely clean, comfortable and well furnished room. The people were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, a good selection of a variety of foods... tasty!. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well done " The Sandbeck" Will visit again. Lynn

For many years I planned,if I reach 60, I will celebrate it in my beloved Whitby and at the Sandbeck. I wasn't let down. This was the first time I re-visited a hotel, I like trying new hotels,I knew this was the right hotel for my birthday. All the staff were pleasant, attentive and efficient in their duties, nothing was... More
