We arrived after 5 as check in was between 12-1 or after 4, giving plenty of time to prepare the room. We were greeted by the owner who showed us to our room, "little beck", which was rather on the small side and somewhat foisty smelling. I went to freshen up in the bathroom and discovered to my disgust, a... More

This was our second visit to Hillcrest. Our last visit was same weekend last year. We had the executive Whitby room last year which was absolutely beautiful but we decided to book a standard room this year (Aislaby room) This room was smaller though the decoration, bed linen, high standard bathroom were all as good. When we returned to our... More

The owner was very friendly and gave us lots of recommendations of plages to visit and restaurants etc. we stayed in the Runswick room which was very warm, clean and comfortable with a very large comfortable bed, seating area, television etc. it was a bit noisy as it's on a busy road and iWeb... We arrived late Friday evening and, although I am disabled no help was given to our room. An executive four poster on 1st floor. There were no details of local restaurants within the guest home, so we set off to find food which was easy to do. Breakfast is served between 9 and 9.30 everyday, so don't be late. Mind... More

I don't normally do guest houses and therefore have nothing to compare it with but, I expected better and the price I paid, it should have been better. Parking was an issue. Basically not enough space or spaces for the people staying, especially those with big cars. Our room wasn't as clean as it should be. Drawers hadn't been emptied... More

Visited Whitby in order to visit town and travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. I booked at the last minute and stayed in a ground floor room with en-suite shower and toilet. Clean and pleasant room with TV and tea making facilities. Slight road noise, not awful but noticeable, probably because of a motorbike rally taking place in... More

My wife and I decided to weekend in Whitby at the last minute. We travel quite a bit worldwide for our respective jobs, but as I have not been well of late this was our first trip for six months and Whitby is one on my favourite places. We arrived late afternoon and were impressed by the lovely building. We... More
