We stayed in the Ruswarp room. It had a very comfortable bed. a fantastic shower and an all round perfect room. The location is great if your good with walkiing, there is a steep hill to whitby but very managable. The breakfast sets you up for the day and i can recommend it. Well I guess good or bad reviews are reflective of a persons priorities and the top of my list is a clean room and a good hot breakfast, neither of which I had at Hillcrest.
