We stayed at the wheeldale 4/5 feb. Very welcoming and friendly staff at this clean and comfy b&b. Situated above the beach at Whitby. Easy walk into Whitby town - approx 10 minutes. Lovely places to eat at night. Would recommend the fishermans wife - walk down the steps near the whale bones. Breakfast plentiful. Good choice of cereals ,... More

Fantastic view, beautiful winter weather, brisk walk into Whitby. Nice size bathroom, pleasant shower, comfy bed. Pleasant room. A more welcoming reception wouldn't go a miss. Combined with less buttery mushrooms. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Pleasant stay, would have scored higher for a friendlier reception.

We had room 10 which was very good and spacious for our needs. Sea view somewhat restricted due to position of room but not a problem-we knew it was when we booked it.. Woken up around 5am by revellers from the hotel next door, unfortunately. Otherwise the Wheeldale has a peaceful atmosphere, no one to bother us and the staff... More

Booked at the last minute, and got the last room (1), bit small, and unfortunately the people in room four had the TV on late and loud, good job we were there for one night only. The owner really should remind people staying there about having the TV on late, so quiet on the outside noisy inside. Some rooms on... More

Room was very dusty. As there is a quick turnover, rooms are only quickly cleaned and not thoroughly. Owners always rushing....no time for guests. Breakfast was just average....breakfast waitress would just plonk your food/ drinks in front of you. A daily room clean just consists of a squirt of toilet cleaner in pan.

Our first impressions of The Wheeldale was that it was in a great location; right on the sea front, but away from the noise. Inside we were greeted by a sleeping cat, and checked in by a slightly sullen teen from whom we got the impression he didn't want to be there, but I suppose that's teenagers for you. We... More

It is well located with great sea views about 10-15 minutes walk from town centre. Rooms are comfortable. It was great having the separate lounge area above the bedroom as 4 of us were staying and it meant we could sit and have a drink together

I had stayed at this hotel a few years ago and found it good so I booked for this stay. It did not seem to be as good this time. There is quite a bit of noise from the water system whenever taps or showers are run. The room was a bit 'tired', especially the bathroom. The shower was excellent.... More

Stayed for one night over the recent week-end. Lovely warm accomodation with a sea view. Our room was medium sized with a comfy bed, TV with Sky and free wi-fi. The bathroom had a very efficient shower and complementary toiletries. There was a tea and coffee tray. Downstairs there is a comfy sitting room and bar area with an honesty... More
