Visited for Sunday lunch this weekend and it was exactly what you'd want from a country pub.Homemade Yorkshire puddings, proper gravy, locally sourced meat and the best cauliflower cheese I've ever tried!Friendly staff we even got offered left over sweets from Halloween!Would definitly visit again if we were in the area.

In the late summer we spent a few night in Castleton and used the Eskdale Inn twice for drinks and evening meal. It was absolutely ideal both times. The 18th and 19th October again found us in the area and without hesitation we again used the Eskdale. The food and standard of service we found on all occasions to be... More

Had a great stay here. The owners and staff were wonderful. Resturant food was lovely and they had a good selection of beers. The train £7.50 rtn. to Whitby. This made it a great base for us to explore Whitby, have a few beers in town and not to worry about parking /driving etc. We have stayed in the area before... More

Very much a locals pub. We didn't even stop as they had run out of food and to be fair the lady behind the bar did apologise and said she would get to us as the locals just kept on demanding to be served. The Downe Arms in Castleton is a better place if you are passing through.

Hello, I'm very sorry to hear you were not fully happy with your visit to The Eskdale the day you visited was a Sunday where we serve Sunday dinners between 12-3 and then the full bar menu between 4-8 on this particular Sunday we already had 35 people booked in so that plus walk ins meant that by 2pm we... We stopped off without booking and the friendly and accommodating bar staff found us a table despite most being reserved, I had the steak pie and it was quite simply excellent. The menu described it as it's "signature dish" and it truly is. My Wife had a steak that she described as superb and my 12 and 13 year old... More

A really friendly country pub, with excellent meals and an enormous breakfast. Well appointed and comfortable room with a nice ensuite, and decorated in a modern but sympathetic style to suit the Victorian building. A really relaxing and enjoyable break.

We spent three nights in the Eskdale Inn on a hiking trip through Yorkshire and we absolutely loved it! Nothing better after a long day of hiking than having a pint and a great dinner and then just having to go upstairs for a good night’s sleep! The location is perfect to discover the beautiful North York Moors. Great hiking... More

We've been eating evening meals in this brill pub for 10 years, using the summertime Esk Valley Music Train, which gives us a comfy 1.5 hours for a meal & a pint, & never had a poor meal. Big platefulls of really tasty food & say this quietly, haddock chips &mushy peas as good, if not better, than several Whitby... More
