My partner and I discovered the Eskdale Inn whilst we were staying at a farm cottage near Castleton in August as part of a cycling holiday. Our first experience of the Eskdale was when we called in on a Sunday afternoon en route back to our cottage. The bar service was very friendly and we were intrigued to see that... More

We had an overnight stay here with our dog while passing through the moors. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. We were very pleased with our room and en-suite, it was clean and tastefully decorated and a huge comfy bed, we were also impressed with the complimentary bath products, tea and coffee. Our breakfast was excellent, probably... More

Turned out to be not quite as special as we had hoped. My somewhat romantic idyll of opening the windows on a sunny morning to gaze out at wind blown, heather strewn moors was not to be. Instead out of the window was a very untidy yard with rubbish and an old discarded sofa, talk about disappointing. The room was... More

We pulled into this inn just after 8.45pm on Sunday night cold , hungry and weary after a hard days cycling, the staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Although they had stopped serving they made us a big bowl of cheesy chips which we really enjoyed. The only regret was that we didn't have the energy to... More

Had a meal tonight at the Eskdale Inn in Castleton, and it was fantastic. Lovely food that was really good value for money. Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone passing! Really friendly staff and atmosphere, would return.

The Eskdale Inn is on the edge of Castleton in North Yorkshire. It is a popular pub in winter and summer with both local and walkers. I always take visitors there because its so welcoming. I generally don't like pub food but have enjoyed every meal I have ever had there- its unusual to have good veggie pub food! I... More

The last day of my cycling holiday was here. Met with a warm welcome and then shown to a great room. Shower fantastic as was rest of facilities. Great atmosphere for families and solo travellers. No nonsense no fuss service which was helpful to a tee.

On the basis of some good reviews for food on Trip Adviser we tried the Eskdale Inn for Sunday lunch today. Although we had pre-booked and arrived early at 12.35 and ordered 5 Sunday Lunches (3 beef and 2 pork) shortly thereafter we had to wait 25 minutes whilst a new batch of Yorkshire Puddings were baked. When the lunches... More
