We booked over the phone, the friendly staff described the rooms in detail, listened to what we wanted and surgested the best option for us. We arrived to this amazing little shop selling spices in old jars, dried flowers jams and cheeses. The clothes in the shop looked beautiful with all the staff sporting the same quirky flowery feminine style.... more

We have been going to Whitby for years as my family had a holiday home there. The Shepherds purse holds so many memories, as children we used to love going in there and smelling the coffee and the herbs etc. so my husband had booked a weekend break there as a christmas present for me. He had booked by telephone... more

We stayed here in September for our little boys birthday and then went on to flamingo land the next day. When I booked the room I told them it was his 8th birthday and that it would be nice to have a treat in the room and that I would ring to arrange something before we arrived. Well I forgot... more

We had a midweek, one night stay at the Shepherd's Purse, chosen because of the good reviews we saw here on TripAdvisor. It's situated on Church Street smack bang in the middle of the old town near the market square. It's easy to find, down one of the many little 'yards' off the cobbled street. It was quick & easy... more

Shepherd's purse is quaint, hippy chic and perfectly situated in town, the location really can't be beaten. Breakfasts in Sanders Yard are very good value and great quality. It's just such a shame that room 4 was such a small room, minute really. For £50 plus breakfast for 2 plus car parking it becomes alot, for what it is. However,... more

I have to admit that I was confused, thinking I had booked for Sander's yard and not Shepherd's Purse. The room was very pretty but only room for a four poster bed and hardly any room either side. the hospitality tray however was very good, with ground coffee and a cafetiere. there was no shower head and only a jug... more

My boyfriend and I spent our first mini break in room 2 of Sheperd's Purse and it could'nt have been more perfect. When booking the wonderful staff offered services such as buying wine and chocolate and putting them on the be for when we arrived. Even though the weather was awful we had an amazing time, and the fact it... more

We stayed here a couple of years ago - booked at very short notice and we loved it! We look back on it as one of the most charming places we ever stayed and we are seasoned travellers. True, it was not en suite nor was breakfast included, we even had a power cut in the middle of the night,... more

En suite rooms located in a converted courtyard in the older part of Whitby. If you are expecting Holiday Inn express type type of accommodation then this is not for you. If you appreciate character, an excellent location and value then you should really consider this. Ignore the negative reviews you have read they must have been written by someone... more
