Stayed for 4 nights with a walking group. This place caters for up to 50 at a time. Had a really spacious double room on the ground floor with modernised en-suite. Ideal. Staff were friendly & helpful + dining room service was really efficient. Negatives : Bar service before dinner was pitifully slow & whilst the breakfasts were excellent, evening... More

Pleasant enough Hotel if not a little old fashioned but I guess it is a country house style hotel so in fairness you would not expect modern decor. Positives - Pleasant views overlooking the country, decent location - its a 20 minute walk all downhill into Whitby Town Centre. Negaitives - Old fashioned, price of our room at £88 for... More

We stayed at Larpool Hall towards the end of August 2014. We were part of a walking group. On arrival we were shown to our room at the front of the hotel, with a 4 poster bed and lovely views over the countryside. Later we were told at a gathering of all the guests that there was a problem with... More

We booked 3 day break on 10th May 14 for August 26th to 29th 14 and requested a room that we had previously occupied on a previous occasion because of our difficulty with stairs. We were so concerned about the issue of steps and stairs we visited Larpool Hall on 14th May and we were assured that we would be... More

I have been here again ! This time for a week over Christmas . I could not fault the place . The food was amazing , the house was spectacularly but tastefully decorated and the staff were not only really friendly but also couldn't do enough to make sure your stay was perfect . Even the weather was better than... More

Stayed at the Larpool and it was a nice walk down into Whitby. The room was a tad musty and the whole place is a bit old and jaded. Still, a good base for Whitby and they cater very well for the walking crowd. A tremendous breakfast was slightly marred by a bun-fight for packed lunches by an elderly crowd... More

We just stayed one night on our way to Alnmouth . As usual it was wonderful . Mark was in charge ( Sue the manager was on holiday ) and he was great giving us a warm welcome and helping us with everything we needed. The meals were great and the views are fabulous. It is so peaceful there ,... More

Ok so when my parents invited me away with them a couple of years ago, I thought oh great I'm gonna get very very bored on this holiday, but I have to say I was so so wrong. We went with the camera club and I have to say that the hotel staff were amazing and very very helpful on... More

The hotel was clean and comfortable, walking groups are obviously well known here as the packed lunches and drying facilities etc were excellent. Good location and helpful staff - just a bit regimented as regards mealtimes and serving - otherwisevery good.

We had the pleasure of having the first independently-booked stay in the Lodge in the grounds of the Hall. A wooden chalet, with all the conveniences of home, including oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, it came with one double bedroom ( with en suite) and two twin rooms ( plus a separate bathroom). There is a table with... More
