We first visited the Dolphin a year ago and returned this year on 24 March for a light lunch. The Dolphin has a fine setting and our coffees and sandwiches were excellent; my wife was delighted by the home made syrup sponge pudding. The service was very good and although there were lots of customers our food came quickly. This... More

Dropped into this pub for a couple of ales and ended up sat next to a birthday party group dressed as bees celebrating a 50th! The other table, lovers tiff between a couple who thought 4 in the afternoon was the time to be doing double jaeger bombs. That didn't end well. Bar staff were great though and if you... More

We have visited here a few times with our dogs for lunch & the food is really great. We are always made to feel very welcome, as are our dogs and they particularly like the "treat lady", who has a bucket full treats! The staff are all really friendly, it's good value for money & has a lovely atmosphere. Definitely... More

Lovely friendly atmosphere. Brilliant view of the harbour from our room. Local to all the shops. Would recommend highly. We arrived at lunch time and had a lovely meal. We were able to book a room with no problems. There is no on site parking but there is a car park at the back of the hotel which costs £6.50... More

Spent a pleasant hour here on a half term day out so we (and our Springer!) could have a bit of a rest. Great pint of Taylor's Landlord and even more enjoyable couple of pints of "Black Death". Wide variety of customers from blokes in for the real ale to B&B guests and families, all welcomed and enjoying the day.... More

Visited for a drink, which I left without finishing. The chardonnay was mediocre, but worse than that was that the barman had commercial radio playing in every room. Why would I want to have a drink with my partner on holiday, whilst being sold insurance and car loans? Awful. Who is the pub being run for? We both used the... More

The most welcoming bar man we met in whitby, full of knowledge of the local area, advising us on all the pubs etc. Very friendly young man. Pub is ok, although every one seemed to be staring which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. So we left and went to another pub recommended by the bar man.
