We popped in for lunch and ordered two normal pub meals. The meals arrived 30 minutes later. Not bad if the pub was busy but there was around 10 other people in the pub. The food was nice and not badly priced, but this was ruined by the wait. The pub had a wide range of drinks on sales. Eat... More

We only popped in for a quick pint but from what we saw the pub is excellent. It's got plenty of character and charm, and a great selection of beers. Situated right in the heart of Whitby next to the harbour this pub is perfect to while away a few lazy hours.

Whilst walking around Whitby taking in the sights and sounds of the active fishing town we stumbled upon the The Dolphin Hotel on the other side of the estuary with dining room windows overlooking the estuary and fishing boats. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The meals we ordered were of excellent quality and well prepared. Well done team.

I stayed in Room 1, and my travelling companions were in Room 2 in this charming pub that has accommodation on the upper floors. Rooms 1&2 are on the first floor, with bay windows overlooking the marina, river and the town of Whitby. I don't think that you could find much better in this seaside town in terms of position... Called in the Dolphin a bit by chance. The swing bridge was closing and so we called in for a warming bowl of soup. Soup was so good we chose to return later for dinner. Good menu and nicely presented. Pleasant staff.

After taking our seats as confirmed by a member of staff, we were ejected by a female door attendant who was half way through her lunch based on it was still in her mouth as she engaged in our eviction.

We have been to The Dolphin on a number of occasions when in Whitby and have always found the food very good. Again it didn't disappoint. We had haddock and chips. There was more than enough to eat. It was served within a reasonable time and it tasted as though it had been freshly cooked. Very enjoyable. The staff were... More

Martin and liz turned this hotel round over the last 2 years , I was in and out of this place all last week , now I never had experiences like the couple of reviews earlier , but I did notice a difference in the place , little things that are slipping , like I saw people with a dog... More
